msd 6012 cam sensor failure; please help!!!
im building a c 10 truck with a 5.3 engine with 317 heads, 2216 edelbrock cam, 750 demon carb, long tube headers, 350 trans with 3500 stall, 4.10 gears.
i just started the truck yesterday but i had a hard time getting it to start, backfires thru the carb, and with the pc connected it get a bad cam sensor. i just checked the harness, grounds, the signal to the A B C connectors and everything seem fine, i did use a cam sprocket out of a lq4 with 24x reluxctor to use the 2216 edelbrock cam, could this be my problem of getting the bad cam sensor signal?? thanks for your help

I already tried switching the outside wires, and the heads are not milled. I just read that for a engine with 58x reluctor you need to buy a 4x cam gear, could this be my problem?

I have used the half moon above and the broken up half moon on the 6012. I hope you just didn't use a gen IV or LS2 cam gear. You would be able to swap that and be in business.

Damned man I just threw it out there that the 6012 would use the LS2 style cam gear. I reread the first post After reading 5.3 with 317 heads... Should have known to look deeper.
What year engine do you have before you buy any other mismatch parts?

You always give very good advise brother. That's what is so cool about this site. Hey sometimes anyone can miss something. And on here someone else will pick it up. Hell you, Speedtigger, Zone and a few others have helped many members. and Thank You

I would take the 243's and have them milled to bump the compression up and reinstall them. People lower compression for superchargers and turbo's (full time boost). You tune around nitrous. Don't compromise your set-up.
2008 would use the 6012. So your engine had VVT? DOD?
