One thing I do like is not messing with a distributor, like I had to on my old sbc. The 6010 is so easy to tune.

When using ignitions like a PowerGrid, with a flying magnet crank trigger... All I had to do all year was turn the distributor a little to re-phase it (making sure the rotor was near the post on the cap when pulling 18-20º of timing for nitrous)

Most of the time, you don't even need to mess with the distributor or crank trigger.

That's not it, it is stabbing the damn thing, running the firing order, making sure it is not 180 out, all that BS. I plug the ignition up and bam, it fired. Not to mention the dwell time on 8 coils is way better along with all the features if timing retard, 2 step and it is a **** ton cheaper.

Not to mention you don't have to deal with weights and springs to get your timing curve exactly right. A few clicks of the mouse and you're done.

a good ignition like the 7al3 has all that, combined with hvcII coil will throw a killer spark

+1

Especially with large duration camshafts.

Then you have to use a junky ford distributor setup too? Blasphemy.

Some of the Ford guys claim that the LS is just a copy of Ford's small block, so I guess it only makes sense. LOL Yet so many toss their Ford engines in the dumpster for an LS Hmmmm.

Yea, never seen a ford pushrod 302 or 351 do what the LS does without taking out a mortgage on your home. Lol

Yup, and it makes the butt hurt strong with the ferd girls. And the ones I know are yelling coyote swap everything now because they think guys like me would care if people threw a ton of money at a ford swap into anything. It will never be on the LS swap level in a million years.

Yeah and many of us here would most likely have experience with that too, knowing it is still a compromise. Idle and off idle throttle manners are much more tractable with a few degrees less at idle and a nice timing curve up to around 2200-2500rpm.

The distributor setup would have yielded zero performance gains, at least on an engine that runs under 8000rpm anyway.

Comical..... Obviously no one has used a modern ignition box like a power grid or even the dinosaur 7531...

I can make a timing curve in either. And it can do ALOT more than a 6010/6012.

Bottom line is a 6010 is quick cheap and easy for guys on a budget looking to get their car running. But if you're a serious racer a 6010's capabilities are insufficient

JCR Wiring in Texas told me they can piggy back a GRID onto a 6010/6012

I may try that route

I agree some what, but I don't use the MSD to get my car running, I get it because it does everything I need.

And I have street cars not "serious" race cars, lol.
