You were talking LS1 yes? 346 cubes will suffocate with a single 3 inch, yet will not need anything bigger than twin 2.5" unless making over 550hp at the motor.

Mathematically it takes about a 3.5" single pipe to equal the area of 2 - 2.5" pipes.

I was making 450 to the wheel N/A through 4.10 gears and a 4500 converter...what does that mean to the motor? it also had a 200 shot of nitrous that I never cared to dyno. you can take your internet racing calculators and punch numbers into them all day.

Got more than enough hands on experience to know what works, and no calculator here unless working out valve events.

you would think that someone with a lot of hands on experience would know what oil to use

LOL - that was an open question, to suss out what others are generally using and to assess what I had roughly decided upon and 'compare notes' so to speak.

I know what we used to run in LS motors 'back in the day' but **** has changed since then, especially with the oil grades that are more commonly stocked by outlets nowadays. I see a lot more overpriced crap labelled as full synthetic this and that, but other oils I would generally go for 10+ years ago seem to be not so common now.

There are only 4-5 true synthetic oils. The rest are blends and that doesnt make them bad. I tried 1 "real" synthetic and didnt like the results. I could burn 1qt of royal purple every 1500 miles. Switched back to mobil 1 and problem solved.
