Interesting. I have seen some stupid fast turbo 4.8s, but nothing comes to mind for n/a 4.8s.

I've been offered to buy back my old 5.3 that I traded for a car, turns out it was a 4.8, I only went by the circle on the front from the factory, crank numbers say otherwise. Thought about making one spin 8k and see how fast I can make it in a mustang or something really light.

The idea of a 4.8 crank in a 6.2 is intriguing. That would be the 8k screamer of my choice. It would also be fun to hit the 4.8 with a 200 shot.

I'm torn, I want another project to just be off road, and a 5.3 swapped jeep with a 2215 eddy cam and a 3000 converter sounds like it would be a blast. But a gutted, full tin can mustang with a 8k rpm 4.8 with a th350, t brake and a 6000 converter would be interesting.

Not sure, over seen some boosted 4.8s turn 7700 with regular components, so not sure what's another 300 rpm.

Well, as if today, my 200k mile 4.8 is making noise. Oil was low and not reading on the stick. So, perhaps a quest for a hard running 4.8 may very well be in the making just because it would be fun.

I am going to need input from everyone here if I do this.

Do I go stock heads untouched? Or posted LS1 heads I have laying around?

I'm thinking the Trex would be fun in a 4.8 with a much larger converter and double springs.

Matt, sounds like we may have a chance to shake things up for fun sake.

Well hell, would be cool to have two 4.8 cars coming together to see how hard we can push them.

We have a member that turned his stock long block with cam and carb to 7800, that was a 6.0, now do the math on the smaller 4.8 piston and the shorter stroke that reduces piston speed and you have a engine that makes less power but turns the revs easier. It is important to have all the components set up to avoid incorrect wear for long term use of course.

And I just ran into a problem with wanting to make a 4.8 run that high. The 4L80 can roll the sprag shifting above 7000. So much for that idea.
