Stock Balancer or upgrade?
Happy New Year everyone!! I am finishing up on my LQ4 build for a 93 lx mustang. I was wondering if most people are running stock balancers or upgrading to SFI balancers?
Just a little info on the build.
Bored 30 over
DSS flat top pistons
Scat Rods
Stock crank
Milled .030 243 heads
BTR .660 springs
Tick Spec'd cam 642/632 108+4
Ls7 lifters
Stock rockers with BTR trunion upgrade
Tick pushrods
Victor Jr
I plan on shifting around 7200 with this setup.
I see alot of junk yard builds run just fine with stock balancers... just would like some opinions.
Thanks in advance!!

My ATI crankshaft damper was one of the best purchases I made on my build. My engine felt notably smoother when I installed it and the quality of the piece is amazing. Do you have to buy it? Nope. But when I build the next LS engine, it will have an ATI damper on it.

just to gain a little clearance between the engine and radiator. Plus I found a low mount alternator that goes where the f body a/c compressor mounts and it has to have the fbody balancer to work.

Go talk to any real good engine builder. And you can bet they will suggest a ATI Super Damper over anything. It just plane and simply works. Longevity is key, at least for my wallet. Lol
