2015 SpeedMullet updates

Over the last several years I've been working towards this crazy idea that I would compete in drag week. I can't let go of the street car stuff ever. Every time I try to go 100% racecar, I end up wishing I could drive the car on the street still. I truly do love racing the car more than having a quick blast down the block, and setting the car up as a true street car has a lot of disadvantages. These work against the competitiveness with the local racing organizations I'm involved with so it seems it's a constant battle of balance. However, having a drag week car and having a street car are very different things. I will set the car up with drag racing in mind, and street driving will be a secondary priority, though I will need to make sure the car can survive a 12-1500 mile trek in September, in what seems to always be the mid-west where temps can be anything from 30's to 90's.
This year, my parent's company J-Angel Productions (the parent company of MotorManiaTV) provided the stream for Drag Week 2016 on Motor Trend's YouTube channel. The Drag Week stream will remain on that channel, but new for 2017 will be a live stream directly from my car, for the entire week, to the MMTV1 channel on livestream and MotorManiaTV's website.
In addition to the amazing sponsors that have already helped with my efforts, I have some new companies that are coming on board as well. A Cam Motion low lash solid roller will take care of valve action for 2017 and a C&S aerosol carburetor will handle all the fueling demands. This is an exciting time for sure!
The goal is to be a front runner in one of the Small Block N/A classes (whichever one the car fits in the best). Hold on tight, we got more coming soon!

Last night I "went live" on facebook to figure out the mechanics of how that worked. It was a total train wreck, lol! The connection was spotty so the video ended up being super grainy and I didn't write down what I wanted to say so I fumbled all over myself, barely getting out a full thought. I decided to take a secondary video and edited it an put it up on my YouTube channel. Please give me some feedback on this as I need to know where to improve beyond reducing the amount of "ums" in the dialog, lol!
I'm also curious if it would be better to "be live" or to edit the video and present it that way. I'm open for any and all constructive criticism.

I think you did a fine job Matt. You just seemed maybe a little nervous. But no big deal. Anyone would. The more and more you do it. The more the words will just flow, and the ums will go away. Remember, live is forever. Best of luck Man. Always enjoy your stories.

my biggest goal right now was to get the car up on stands before the end of the year. i was able to do that today thankfully. i got a few key measurements done and let me tell ya, that vertigate takes up huge amounts of room, lol! as it sits, i think it's going to be really crowding my legs, but i have a few ideas.
also i got a new toy that i'm pretty pumped about. 2" punch and bead die from Eastwood. taking my speed hole game to the next level
that's all for now, but i will be much more diligent now that the car is the only thing in the garage.

got some work done yesterday before the new year rang in honestly, i was really concerned about shifter placement, until i got it in the car that is. ergonomically, i couldn't have asked for better placement. it's close to me, but not so close i'm riding all over it down the road or anything. the bolsters on the seat keep my legs from falling into it.
it did take some cutting, but nothing real major. i'll build a nice removable panel to cover this up.
That's all for now. Happy New Year!
