ls3 heads/rockers
Hi guys. I have a couple of questions. I think i have found a LQ9 I will probably buy. I have a set of LS3 heads, bare. No rockers, no valves. Do i have to run similar weight valves to stock, as they are VERY pricey. I found a good set of very low mile stock rockers. How much lift can these take? If I run 580-600 lift... Thanks!

Don't have to run hollow ls3 valves, but they are nice. Shoukd be able to get solid 2.165 valves, we got them in our 6.0 litre alloy motors in aus, usually on 5364 rectangle heads.
Factory rocker with trunion upgrade is good all day long with most mid level cams and will spin all day to 7500 with no issue

LS3/L92 heads are the same now I believe.
I have them (solid valves), stock rockers (used LQ4-exhaust side, New LS3-style on the intake side, new rocker stand for the LS3 rockers)
.624 lift
.650 dual springs
23X/24X cam
7500 has been fine so far.
I do want to do the trunions soon though.

As for lift, most guys limit their lift on stock rockers to the .620-.630 area. There have been people who have successfully run more lift, but it will take some good attention to detail to stay out of trouble if you do.
