My winter projects are nearing completion
Its been a long fall and winter and ive been doing some little work to the car.
I pulled the interior apart, gutted the dash and thinned out the wiring harness, I took some good weight out of the dash and really cleaned up the wiring by removing all the unused stuff. I don't have a pictured of the completed harness but this was mid-project.
I yanked the headliner and had a good friend of mine re-do the headliner. The previous owner had stapled the sagging liner to the board and it looked horrendous. He recovered my visors too, John at Inside-out customs did a killer job on the entire thing.
I picked up an a1000 with filters for a good deal used and started re-doing the fuel system. I made a bracket to mount the pump to the frame rail, pulled the tank, welded some new fittings on and started getting the new lines run, -10 feed and -8 return
and my reasoning for all this work was because I decided to go to the dark side.....it was fun, and has proven to be learning curve but well worth it. I went EFI with a holley HP EFI with touchscreen.
I went with a bigboy Hi-flow aeromotive regulator, I did everything I could to keep this pump happy and live a long time on the street. The regulator is way overkill but it has a larger seat for good return flow rate.
Last summer I built an 8.8 for the car, stock foxbody housing, welded new spring perches on, changed the geometry a bit, welded the tubes, moser 31 spline axles, ford racing traclok and a set of lightened Richmond 3.55's. I got it in the car with a trick chassis 8.8 swap kit.
Im still buttoning things up, its a little messy and the car is filthy dirty but I still have some time before it hits the streets again. Its still my same old crappy motor. Stock head studded 5.3 with a trickflow 216/220 cam but I wanted the car up to snuff and overbuilt for my current combo before I drop a new bullet in. It is an entirely differecnt car on EFI but I think im happy I did it, my carb was tuned really well but you just cant beat the driveability....sorry guys haha
