Default Finally going to bite the bullet and flycut

Eyeballing the cammotion junkyard dog camshaft for cathedral port heads. Running a cam cut similar to the old patriot 226 112lsa. What gains can I expect and also any opinions or recommendations besides the cam I am looking into ? Engine specs are in my sig. Thanks

While I can't see your engine specs in your signature from my phone, I recently installed that cam.

Strait up, it was 1 degree retarded and my PTV clearances were too close for my comfort (intake was very tight but my exhaust had plenty of room). I ended up installing it 3 degree retarded to get it where I wanted to because I wasn't going to be flycutting this motor.

370ci LQ9 flat top Pistons, heads are stage 2.5 tsp 243s with 61cc chambers etc etc. I've been told I'll need to fly cut, I'll have to use clay to verify and check for certain. Better safe then sorry.

2003 LQ9. Stock long block... if the heads were milled I couldn't tell. They were the original GM head gaskets.

I'll have to check my notes to see what my PTV was. I ended up around .045"/.070" retarded 3 degrees, I believe.

I also verify my PTV clearance using a solid lifter, checker spring and micrometer along with my adjustable pushrod (deducting pre-load). If my figures are .0065" off, it would be a lot.

That is really strange. I had that same cam and I had .058" intake and .070" exhaust clearance as it came out of the box.

6.0L SS Cam Option - 425HP
Trick Flow 30602003 Cam - 228/230, .585 lift, 112 LSA

Price Considerations: The LQ9 being a limited production engine often comes with about a $1000 premium over a similar age / mileage LQ4. IMO, If you are willing to pay the premium for an LQ9 it is cheaper to start with an LQ4 and do either the Z06 Cam Package (375HP & $700) or the SS Cam Package (425HP & $1000).

Sorry, numbers got lost in my head and for some reason I thought this was similar to the cam you were swapping.... I should learn to read....think....then respond Vs. read a line or a few words and jump the gun
Just disregard.
