ok guys! I'm having problems with my 85 cutlass LQ4 with a cam and 850 demon carb. Going up to the lanes get a burn out done getting ready to stage then the car sounds like it's flooding out. Go back to the pits change the plugs because they were black with a white tip. After changing plugs and driving back to the lanes it sounds like it's flooding out again. I have a 6010 msd. 84 squared jets in the carb no power valve. Timing is set at 34 square coils regulator is good and so is fuel pressure floats set right at the bottom line. 33 squirters

Ok yesterday I went out had the square coils on sounded like flooding or missing out so I switch the coils to the rounds coils. Runs fine until I launch and start racing about the 330' mark the car start to act like it misfiring or not getting signal. But I did find the the rubber garment from the plug that plugs in to the coil on one side was missing maybe loose connection? Idk I'm not sure needle and seats are fine nothing in there

I run my fuel level half way thru site glass on my quickfuel.
Does it have jet extension on secondary?
Is fuel coming out of primary vent tube into carb on acceleration?

If its running fine till it gets to 6000rpm give or take, then breaks up. Sounds like you may have both coil harnesses flipped over backwards. The plug with the purple wire goes to number one coil, and on the other side the plug with the red wire goes to number two coil. The rest of the coil harnesses lay out accordingly. Something easy to check just to rule it out. Also, I believe you have to select the type of coils you are using when programming the MSD box.

This sounds like classic needle and seat failure. They tend to act up just after the burnout. Once it does that, it will likely continue to get worse. (Ask me how I know LOL).
Replace both needle and seats. Also watch the fuel pressure. Keep it between 5 to 7 lbs. More is not better.
