Idle timing w/map
What are you guy's running your idle timing at w/map. I'm currently at 35*, cruising w/map is 45*

Great info.......a lot of what you mention I'm currently doing, so I believe I'm on the right track, granted everyone's setup is different I know now I'm not way off base. I'll try to get a screen shot curve posted. I'd like to get some more input. I'm new to this stuff, learning so bare with me. Thanks for your input I appreciation it............Jay

One thing that always confused me too is the low timing setting at idle, with a vacuum advance.
Why not just straight line the timing 0-redline, and add timing where needed with vacuum advance ? Like the old SBC it replaces ? (I like Tiggs first timing MAP for a street ride.... in that link)
No load, high vacuum, more timing, equal cleaner idle...more advance at cruise = better MPG and cleaner running.
The highest vacuum I see is at the end of the quarter mile on deceleration, So I don't want more timing added
I use no vacuum advance, but mine is a weekend toy (street/strip) Basically running a locked timing with a big stall.
