Wondering how you guys keep your engine compartment clean? I used to go to the self serve car wash and just hose a hot engine down and then restart it real quick. I now have a pressure washer and could I suppose do the same thing at home. But with all the exposed coils, etc. I am reluctant to try that. Here is my engine back when it was new and clean. I would like it to look that way again! What now I ask?

Everything is weather pack sealed to keep it safe from water. Hit the engine with a cleaner or de-greaser, let it sit for a few and then use a garden hose to gently wash it away trying to avoid directly spraying water into connections.

Before I had a hood on mine, it went through many torrential downpours with all the rain we had this season. I've also driven it down the interstate without the hood while it was bucketing down. Never an issue. And mine is still injected so I have a lot more electronics out there getting wet.

At last, people with some experience. My engine compartment is mostly dusty, so I won't need very much detergent. I suppose worst case if I can't get it started I can push it into the garage and wait it out. Plenty warm right now, I just wanted to hear that this strategy was successful.

ElQueFor: I did a similar thing - bench top test of a PWM Arduino based controller for the fuel pump for my carbureted motor. That stuff happily is all inside the car .

I doubt you'd ever have an issue with the water. I have a hood on mine now, but no inner fenders. Since I'm turbocharged, there is a LOT of stuff going on in there; and it's much easier to get to things with the inner fenders removed. So if I'm ever out driving and it starts raining, everything still gets hosed down from no inner fenders

Sounds cool, got any videos of it or anything? If you can run Arduino for various things, why are you running a carb on an engine that was originally injected ??

It's a GM Performance 376/515 and came carb'd. Car's an old school 69 Corvette so a carburetor seemed right at the time. The Arduino is there to put an oil pressure switch, cranking voltage, and fuel pressure regulation in one place along with some discrete signals to LED's on the dash.
No videos, here is the bench top setup prior to the install:
