Default LY5 Carb conversion!

Hello everyone, my name is Fred 39 from Quebec Canada and i am new to the site... I work as a Mazda automotive technician and am the unlucky owner of a 2009 Mazda Rx8 R3 wich OF COURSE has a blown engine . Nevertheless, after thinking about it and after looking at the cost of a rebuild on my rotary engine ive decided to go ahead and LS swap it for the sole purpose of having fun doing it and enjoy it afterwards. My idea was to go Carburated for its nice vintage look and its simplicity. To keep it short my setup is as far as follows, LY5 engine from a 2008 chevy silverado 1500 , edelbrock RPM intake 71187 and edelbrock vrs4150 for the carburator ( i found all of stated on Facebook marketplace for very VERY cheap). I also decided to go automatic transmission and found myself a TH400 from an old Oldsmobile delta .
I have photos if you guyz are ever interested into following up the build... NOW my reason for posting today is because im asking myself if since im going carburetor i know i wont be needing the DoD system and wonder if i can just ditch it and replace the valley pan with a billet one and call it a day or do i have modifications to do ... I would be really happy to get help from more experienced Ls owners that went the carbureted way i sincerely thank you in advance .

You will need to replace the cam, lifters (pushrods should be OK unless bent, or new cam needs different length) and valley cover (use LS3 version).
A fresh timing chain and oil pump would be good ideas too.

I just ordered those littles plugs to hammer down the oil passages in the valley ... With it i think (correct me if im wrong) i can reuse the original valley cover ?

Use the LS3 cover and plug the towers. And use all non-DOD lifters and lifter trays. The pushrods are the same.

Hopefully- you did not PAY for that transmission yet.
Buick-Pontiac-Oldsmobile TH400 had different bolt pattern than Chevy. I do not think that will bolt on your LS.
TH400 is a heavy pig, MASSIVELY overkill for an RX8.

Carburetion is a huge step backward, There are EFI setups that LOOK carbureted but are injected. It will run better injected plus it is programmable
