I have a stock 99 T/A with a auto trans and I took it to the track last week and it ran a 14.2 all night with a 2.2 60ft. I did have a check engine light on for low knock sensor voltage. Do you think that could cause it to run that slow or do I have another problem I don't know about. I changed the knock sensors already but no change.

I had a 01 ss with stock everything that ran 12.98@107 in 2004ish. I did cut the airbox out on the bottom and thats it. a4 car
theres plenty out there that can run 8.40s-8.50s 1/8 on a cold night stock.

guess these cars are getting faster as they get older. I remember on here a few years back they were a solid low to mid 13 second car. regardless of stock trim. do remember hearing the m6's were a smidgin' faster than a4's. also remember that magazine article floating around to prove to all the mustang guys we were in the 12's stock.
does seem the ls1 f-body has managed to shave a few tenths off it's average time since then.

I finally broke down and took my '02 Z28 to my local 1/8th mile tonight. A4, 3:23s, Fram air filter, SLP MAF/SLP Lid, 17-inch SS wheels with 275 Pirellis, 131,000 miles. I only made four passes, none with burnouts. First pass was an 8.887 @ 83.79 MPH w/2.241 60-ft. Fourth and final pass was an 8.768 @ 84.55 MPH w/2.216 60-ft. If I can get my 60-ft. times down just in the 2.1XX or 2.0XX range, anywhere between 8.60s-8.40s should easily be within reach for my car.
Surprisingly, this was also my very first time racing at a track, too...

I agree that with the best possibile car, under the best possibile conditions, with the best possibile driver, the M6 version will be a bit quicker and certainly faster in trap speed. But both trans types are generally mid 13 second cars in average conditions with an average driver, and the very quickest stock A4 cars (as well as M6 cars) have certainly done better than mid 13s.
It was a '99 Z28 that went 12.89 @108, and here is an article that refers to that car and pass, as well as an '02 SS that had bests of 12.96 and 108.7mph in two different passes in less than ideal conditions:

the awsome part of all this, is the times were debating about are faster than mustangs of previous years, equivalent years, and later years. ok ok maybe not the roush stage 3 blah blah's.. but the ones we see everyday..smoked. and i love knowing that the guys in the 25,000$ newer mustangs are behind my 6,000$ camaro at the finish line lol. and somewhere in a distant 3rd are the 20,000 vtecs lol.
