My 02 Z28 A4 runs consistant 8.2's @ 86 mph with 1.8 60's. It has full exhaust and 3.73's. Everything else stock. Tires are Mickey Thompson street comp 275/35-18
Best it done 100% stock with 2.73's was 8.7

My 98 z28 a4 2.73s with a shift kit and 2300 stall ran a 14.5 granted I live in New Mexico and we are about the same altitude as Denver almost a mile high. Granted if I ran at sea level theoretically I would run a 13.5. Same night there was a m6 00+ z28 sprayed caged and on slicks running 14.6( yes I ran faster and he had a clean pass at a mile high) A4s with gears will easily drop me into the mid to low 13's with 3.73s where as the m6 comes stock with more gear than the a4 and run theoretically about the same time depending on driver and weather. Gears are probably one of the best upgrades to the ls Camaros then a 4l80E

A stall speed increase is by far a better upgrade. Once you have a 3500+ stall speed in place, in a 4L60E/LS1 combo, gear ratio changes within the range of 2.73-3.73 will net no more than 0.10-0.15 seconds of ET reduction (assuming ideal traction.) At that point, IMO it's not really worth the cost or potential downsides to the gear swap unless you want to wring out every last tenth, or are one of the folks who is bothered by the street manners of the higher stall speed (looseness), or are willing to go well beyond the 3.73 ratio. If you're doing a complete new rear end, that would be a different story.

From a rolling start it will be a massive change. Going from a 2.73, you will see a nice pick up from a dig...if you already had 3.23's and we just bolt's, wouldn't change much.

As already mentioned above, not nearly as big of a gain as an optimized stall speed. And once you have said optimized stall speed, a gear swap from 2.73 to 3.73 will result in very little additional ET reduction.
