Default Stock 2000 z28...where to start with mods?

Hey guys, i just recently bought a 2000 z8, it has around 77,000 miles on it, and its completely stock. Its almost christmas time and im thinking i need to get my car a few performance presents.

I was thinking headers, and a true dual set up maybe im not sure, or and intake or something, i just dont know what the best place to start would be.

I hope to have by summmer time: LT's exhaust, intake, and maybe ported TB

And if you have any ideas about what type of headers, dp, ect let me know thanks

If you have any ideas let me know thanks for looking

first decide how far you want to go with the car how extreme ex. do you want a fast DD or a fast weekend car or an all out race car? once you determine that you will know where to start. if i just wanted a quick DD id do bolt ons and add some nitrous. my first thing would be full exhaust lt's, no cats, tsp true duals or other free flowing exhaust then keep going from there. if your car is an m6 car i might suggest a good clutch because once you start modding the stock one isnt worth 2 cents

As of right now yeah i just want a fast DD. And as far as spending money wise, for now maybe just like 400-500 im not sure. And how would LT's and just stright pipes sound, i know loud, and what would the price rang for that be just an estimate, and how much are the tps duals about?

since its an auto you get lucky lol they are less stressful on the rears too the stock 10 bolts are known for breaking with both a4 and m6's BUT i have seen alot of a4 cars with the stock rear beat on them for awhile without them giving up. i wouldnt suggest straight pipe just because i think it sounds ugly... if your on a budget its hard to beat the pacesetter headers but the QTP and Kooks are definately the way to go if you can afford them (i have qtp's) of course if you stay with a y pipe youll need an offroad y pipe to delete the cats then whatever catback youd like if you want loud but want to keep a y pipe setup id suggest the slp loud mouth 1 system. i love my tsp true duals BUT it does get annoying how it will blow lots of dust up because they are pointing at the ground. id do a complete exhaust upgrade then go from there with cold air, underdrive pulley, etc

yeah i was set on the pacesetters, and then get the off road pipe. Could i just replace the stock muffler with an after market one, and get new tips and keep the same piping? Just have a shop basically exhange and weld on the mufflers and tips.
And how much of a different of HP is there with the different types of set ups?

dont add nitrous to daily driver!!! you said you are on a budget of 500 so far? go with exhaust and intake first. if u go nitrous route you will need to build ur engine (forged pistons, cam, rods heads etc) and have exhaust anyway for backpressure. nitrous is the reason why my engine blew up (bought it used and found out through a snapped connecting rod).

Let the car inhale first, lid and intake. Then let it exhale and do the headers/exhaust. Get a good converter and a sticky set of tires and you'll have a mid 12 second DD

I started off with a bone stock car to. The first thing I did was Lid,K&N, Smooth Bellows. Then I did Throttle Body Bypass,Delphi 85mm MAF,Then I did SLP Y,SLP Loudmouth 1 Catback. So I would do Lid,Intake, exhaust. My next mods are 373s,160,DR's,LT's/ORY and a Stall..

Good luck and you will get the bug. You will want to go faster and faster.

Talking

I went thru the same thing about 8 years ago with my D/D. I would go with LID/Cold Air Induction/Intake/Exhaust/Torque Convertor/Cam/Heads. You also will need handling mods: Frame Connectors/shocks/control arms/sway bars/pan. IMO the TC made the biggest difference as far as making it fun to drive. The shocks made it handle the best.

Good luck.
