Here is my newest project to go with my 79. A 1981 Camaro sport coupe came right out of a N.C. junkyard. Rust free !!! One day going to have a LS engine and 6sp manual, also Detroit Speed and Engineering suspension. If anyone needs parts for 1978-1981 Camaro I have a many.

There is a way to make the 305 decent. I had a mildly built 305 in my 79 years ago. The engine had dart trq heads, a holley 750 4bbl, a Summit Racing cam, headers, exhaust. It was good for 252 rear wheel hp. My 79 Camaro went 15.1 @ 94 mph on motor, and 13.6 on a 150 shot. I believe your best bet is to put a 350 or something bigger in it, it is more cost friendly. The 305 stuff isn't cheap, because they aren't popular. But it is possible to make them run good. Hope this helps.
