1997 30th Anny or 2002 35th Anny
So i am in a mild search of a 97 30th Anniversary SS Z28 camaro. White with Orange stripes etc. I cant afford a 69 pace car so this will do and they are less money. but also the 2002 35th anniversary is what i would rather have but cost a bit more. So what im getting at is, is it worth paying the extra cash for a 2002? or would i be getting the same with a 97 and putting a little bit of money into it to make it where i want it to be?

Get whichever you like better. The 2002 will be easier to mod and have better performance. The 97 won't be as fast, but is cooler IMO.
Personally, I would go with a 97 SS 'vert myself...

Are you looking to mod either car?
If so I'd recommend you get a regular one and mod it and put whatever stripes on it that you want. Unless you get a higher mileage example then it really doesn't matter.
If it were me I'd get a 97 30th SS with higher miles and then swap in an LS1, LS2 or LS3 and call it a day.

I mostly agree with the majority, go with the '02 unless you find a 1997 anniversary car with the LT4. I also agree with those who would be reluctant to mod either car. If you want to mod a car, don't use an anniversary car as the starting point. Just my .02.

If the op plans on doing any kind of driving (miles) on the car, then value of low mileage is out. Mod the car and save your stock parts. De-mod when/if you sell the car.

My first car was a 1998 SS and I had no money to mod it because of a $400 dollar payment.
This time around I went with a 1999 Z28, just got it and paid $9000, I am the second owner and it has 63,000 miles.
If you want to mod it, get something you dont mind modding. I bought mine with the intention of modifying it, rims, hood exhaust.
