Exclamation Third Gen Overheating problem, need help

So couple of weeks ago i purchased me a car for DD purposes.

its an 89 Camaro Z28 Automatic 5.0 Carburated.

So when i got it, it had overheating issues already so what i did is:

1) Replaced the radiator and radiator cap.
2) Replaced the Waterpump
3) Replaced thermostat with 180 degree one.

The car still overheats like hell especially on midday once the temperatures reach high 80's and above.

And the car seems to drive very slow, i mean really down on power. Once the car is warmed up i literally have to floor the car for it to accelerate.

Runs really rough.

Any ideas on what it could be??? My bro suspects a headgasket issue, but i dont know, still drives but really rough...

Here is a picture of a car... just for the hell of it, so you guys arent bored lol

Is the lower air dam under the car? When you say overheating how hot does it get. I wouldnt go by the stock gauge untill you can verift that it is correct.

After you've done all those things, the next thing I would suspect is a head gasket or some other semi uncommon issue. Are you losing coolant at all?

Also, I've never really been a fan of the 3rd Gens but that picture makes me hate them a little less.

Timing chain bad.
I'd also look into that carb swap, what regulator was used, etc.
Ignition timing.
Oil pressure.

when i say its overheating, the coolant container gets very inflated and looks like its about to explode, i can hear, feel the liquid boiling there. Its also smoking, like a friggin kettle or something lol

Im suspecting i need to do head gasket... might as well rebuild

Do the fans work? Almost every 3rd gen I have worked on in the last 2 years has had a temp switch problem or a fan motor problem. Either way the fan hasn't worked correctly on probably 20 out of 25 I've worked on...
Does it run like poo when its cold, too?

lol i had a 86 bird that did the same thing, my fix was to cut the thermostat to leave it open all the time, but still having a restricted hole instead of a 3" one. it stopped overheating, but yeah if you wanna do it the right way id check into your head gasket, maybe its being blocked up top.

Talking

first check the airdam. second check to see if the fans are coming on. i believe that an 89 was tbi or throttle body. if it is now carbed then an outside fan controller will have to be used. also it is a good idea to drill two small holes in the thermostat to let coolant flow to keep air pockets from forming.

what is the timing set at. what regulator is used.
