Default Exhaust too loud need help

I just got a 99 SS that has QTP Long Tubes and a custom dual exhaust set up with a two on the left exit with 2 magnaflow mufflers. The car also has no cats and a cam. This is a very nice exhaust set up, but it's a little too loud. I'm worried that I'm gonna get pulled over every time I drive the car and my 2 year old is scared of it at idle and I bought it looking forward taking him to shows this summer. When I bought the car I thought it was loud, but I knew I could change the exhaust as it was the only thing I even came close to not liking about the car.

Now I like the way the exhaust is set up. You can tell someone put a lot of hard work and time into it. I just want it a little quieter. A friend told me to put cats on the car and that helps take some of the raspyness and popping out of it. To me cats aren't to quiet the car, mufflers are. I was looking at putting some inline bullet style mufflers and adding an x pipe in along where the exhaust runs parallel to the drive shaft. I just want to know if that will quiet it enough. I'm looking for any suggestions or recommendations that people have done or seen done. Thanks for your help.

Duals will be loud no matter what to you. I have longtubes, high flow cats and flowmaster shorties dumped and Its pretty loud. Maybe a nice y-pipe and catback would suit you better?

^Agreed. I had duals on my car for 3 days before I went to a ORY/LM1 because it's quieter than the duals. I loved the way my duals sounded but inside the car was too damn loud.

Damn, an ory and LM1 were quieter than the dual set up. I just don't get it, there has to be a way to make this a little quieter. Maybe a single set up is in my future. I just really like the way the exhaust is set up on the car.

I think you would be surprised at how much cats will do to quiet the exhaust on an LS1.

Would you go with cats then or with mufflers? I have nothing against doing cats, I just think that mufflers are made specifically to make the exhaust quieter. So if they will do a better job I will go with mufflers. That and they are $100 cheaper each.

IMHO, I would go with cats since you like the way your exhaust is set up.
