Thanks man I appreciate it. I got my new full length UMI torque arm on with relocation crossmember a couple of weeks ago. It is definitely much better for street use as far as ground clearance goes, and the new crossmember looks really nice in place of the stock piece. Now I just need to get me a set of tires before the race season starts so I can have some fun with it.

Much better so far. I only made 1 hit on the street and it stuck pretty well. Can't wait to try them on a track where I can actually heat them up a little bit. 15X10 RT/s with 28X10.5X15 ET Drags.

Had some fun at Lassiter Mountain today with the car. Unfortunately I couldn't use my new drag setup because I didn't have all the washers for my lugnuts. I was really disappointed about that, but my best pass of the day was an 8.086 at 93.75 mph with a .711 RT (pro tree) and 2.137 60' on street tires. On that pass a girl in a G8 that had been running all day called me out to race her. Her car was really quick for a "stock" (so she claimed) G8. She ran an 8.160 on that pass with a .588 RT (pro tree) and 2.025 60'. Here is a link to the video. Really looking forward to running my slicks next week hopefully.

I drove the Camaro to Steele yesterday to make some passes finally on the slicks.

First pass I had 21 lbs of pressure in them (they had heated up some since I left the house with 18 lbs in them). I only pulled a 1.9 60' with a 4000 rpm launch and a 12.1 1/4 mile time.

Second pass I dropped the pressure down to 17 lbs and it hooked better, but it bogged at 3500 rpm launch.

Third pass launched at 4000, same pressure, bogged again.

Fourth pass I launched at 5000 and it did much better. Still spun slightly, but this ended up being my best pass at a 11.887 with 1.78 60'.

Fifth pass I put it at 5500 and pulled a 1.71 60', but I missed a gear and ran a 12.02.

My goal was to try to get into the 1.6 60' times yesterday, but on the next pass this happened...



Slung a rod after I hit 3rd gear. Wasn't spraying or anything. May have just been a result of missing the gear the pass before. Sooo...all in all I was pretty satisfied with the day being my first day out on slicks ever, and the fact that the launches were getting better as the day went. Plans now are to finish up that built shortblock 6.0 I bought a few months back and get it put in the car. All I like to get it going NA is a cam, pushrods, oil pump, and gaskets basically. I'd REALLY like to go turbo setup with it, but that'll all depend on how long I want the car to be down. This would be as good of a reason as any to do it though.

Making solid progess. Got k-member out and have started taking brackets out of the engine bay for sandblasting/painting. Hopefully I can get the rest of the stuff out tonight. This will be the point where things slow down some though because I will have to start getting parts built up. Sorry if the pics are big. I had to upload these from my phone.

Tonight I got most of the wiring harness in the bay loose. After that I started pulling the top end apart. Got the heads, intake, accessories taken off to look at the damage. Turns out the heads will be alright. I have one bent valve, but the rest of the heads look great. My buddy has a replacement valve I can put back in, and then the 243 heads will be for sale. Haven't gotten a chance to look at the cam yet because we couldn't get the underdrive pulley off. Hopefully we can get that done this weekend. We did get the motor off the k-member too. Attached are some pics of the progress. Block didn't turn out so well. #5 piston also had some damage.

More progress in getting the bay ready for cleaning and paint. Had to remove the HVAC box which was not much fun. I imagine putting it all back in won't be either.





I also picked this up yesterday. Needs a rebuild, but it should push the Camaro along pretty well. I talked to Work Turbos in Pelham yesterday. Tthey said the rebuilds for these start at $250, and the guy I bought it from said he had them look at this one in person and they told him the same thing.





Also, I want to delete the AC box from the bay but keep the heat in the car. I know you can make a delete panel for that hole that the heater tubes still hook into, but I'm not sure how to make the blower and everything still work. It has been done before by other Camaro owners to free up space, but there really aren't any detailed write ups on it. I also haven't looked into it much yet, but I figured I'd ask on here just in case. I want the bay to be as open as possible.

More progress on the Camaro today. I have been busy with my upcoming wedding, so this is the only day I've had a chance to work on it in the last couple of weeks. It'll probably stay this way until two more weeks when I get back from Aruba too. Can't wait for that vacation! Anyways, some before and after pics of the engine bay. Now for cleaning up all the brackets, painting them all, and reassembly of the interior.

Thats what I keep telling myself. I am really enjoying working on it though. There's a lot of satisfaction in it when something turns out nice like the engine bay did. Taking that dash out to get the hvac box out was no fun though.

The interior looks like a car again. Got the dash back in minus the a pillars and console. I'm waiting on a lower shift boot before I put the console back in. Next will be getting the fenders and hood mounted up. Also hopefully ordering a turbo k-member toward the end of the week so that I can get my motor mounted and back in the bay. At that point hopefully I can work on mocking up my hotside.
