Hopefully I can find the motivation to get back in the shop in the next couple of days to get some more done. It sucks because I can't really spend much on the car for a little while due to saving for a house. Oh well, there's always more cleaning that has to be done.

Well since the last update this build took a completely different route. In an effort to get the car back on the road before two years (since we're paying stuff off and getting ready to buy a house), I decided to go back NA with my Camaro for now. Since I made that decision I ordered a BTR stage 3 NA cam, gasket set from TSP, got some headers/exhaust secondhand, and bought some smaller injectors. I began finishing up my motor today. Got the cam, lifters, oil pump, timing set, and pickup tube in place. Still waiting a new oil pan since we found a crack in mine. Also hopefully going to pick up my heads from the guy who is porting them tomorrow. Only other thing I have left is to order pushrods once I measure the length. Also got my heat shields painted and reinstalled along with the engine bay wiring harness. Its coming together quickly. I'm really hoping Ill have the motor back in and running by two weekends from now. Shooting for 450whp at least NA. Shouldnt be an issue with the 370. From the calculators ive done it should make right at 10.5:1 compression with the flat tops and 317s. We'll see. Quick picture of the bay now in comparison with before.

Motor is back together outside of torquing down the header bolts. For some reason the bolts I took out of my ls1 won't tighten down all the way in this motor. I need some washers to put under them to keep the bolts from bottoming out in the heads. Anyways, not much more to do before its running.

Yours would look much better with just an SLP grill in the front. Makes a world of difference. BTW, got my car running again last night. All that is left to do is attach my exhaust to the headers, bleed brakes, and put hood and bumper back on. It sounds very healthy, and there are no issues that I can see. I will try to post a video soon

Ok, so lots of progress since my last update. Went to fill the radiator/motor with coolant last week and it started pouring out of the back of the block as fast as I was pouring it in. Turns out, the passenger side head was missing the plug that goes where the coolant temp sensor screws in on the driver's side head. Easy fix. Filled it up again, and no leaks.

I started bleeding brakes, and my front left hard brake line was pinched and leaking. Got a replacement line from Autozone, and bent it to work. No more leaking brakes. After all that, bolted up my $180 Craigslist exhaust (including header, y-pipe, and bullet muffler) and took it for a drive. Sounds better than any other exhaust I've had I think. Only issue I found after riding around at operating temp was a small drip at the front coolant crossover. $4 o-ring fix will be here in a couple of days, so I'm driving it in the meantime and just keeping a check on the coolant. Hardly leaks anything out.

I'm VERY pleased with it so far. It runs and sounds great. Feels a little more torquey than my old setup, and the driveability is actually better already than it used to be with the TSP cam. This BTR cam is really nice so far. I haven't really pushed it at all since it is on the old tune (adjusted for larger injectors), so I want to set up a time to get it tuned with someone locally.

A picture of it almost complete again, and a crappy idle video.

Sooo...I've been thinking some about maybe selling this car to help fund my wife and I getting a house. If I sold it, I wouldn't let it go for less than 11k. Anyone here be interested in it for that? I'm not going to put a for sale ad on here because im not positive I want it gone, but it could help our housing situation a lot if it did sell. If anyone is interested let me know, and we can talk about it a little more seriously.

EDIT: NVM, not selling it. It's too much fun

So since the last update I have been pretty much daily driving this thing while I'm dragging my feet to replace a clutch in the Prelude. Everything is doing really well aside from a few small things that I've been slowly working on getting tied up.

1) I left off a vacuum line that connects to the back of the intake for HVAC mode controls, so it just blows on defrost when the blower is on. Still need to fix.
2) I fixed my coolant crossover leak
3) I fixed my front blinkers not working right, just bad bulbs
4) Finally got a chance to clay bar, wash, and wax it this weekend. The paint surface was really rough from slight paint overspray when I painted the bay and being covered in dust for months. Paint looks much better now! Still need to get a good buff to get rid of some swirls and get the rear bumper painted to fix spider cracks.
5) Also did some headlight repair this weekend that helped a lot as well.

I really need an actual camera...

New update: Ever since I bought this car back it has had a loud clunk/knocking noise in the rear suspension at low rpms. It sounded like something was banging on the floorpans. It has also had a bad swaying issue, mainly at 60+ mph. It has driven me crazy. I knew it was rearend, LCA, or torque arm related. So, shortly after I bought the car back I put a full length torque arm back on it rather than the tunnel mount, didn't fix issue.

Fast forward to today. I went to check it out under there to see if I could find out the clunking issue. The LCA bolts were way loose on the body side and rearend side. I could shake the LCA with my hand and make it knock. Tightened both sides up, and it fixed my knocking issue and the swaying issue. MUCH more enjoyable to drive again now.

Awesome thread! Your car is amazing. What size are your Zr1 wheels and tires? And do they fit? Or did you have to do any modding?

Thanks I appreciate it! The ZR1s are 17x9.5 in the front (or 17x9, can't remember), and I believe the rears are 17x11. They are whatever staggered size oewheels sells on their site. I like them a lot on the car. I had to take off my bumpstops and beat in a little on my inner fender wells. You just have to recoat them with some spray undercoating, and you can never tell. I also have an adjustable panhard bar to help make sure everything is centered perfectly.

I was beginning to wonder if anyone even still read this thread haha

Awesome man thanks. I will most likely be getting those soon I was already looking at them on that website and was wondering if they were the same. But yeah man I read the whole thing. It's pretty awesome how you took us through the whole build. I have had my 2000 z28 camaro since I was 16 and have had it 8 years and just about to start modding it. Lol. But anyways thanks a lot man I appreciate it!

Sounds good man, but once you start modding, it is a never-ending game. Its all fun though to watch it come together.

Just clean the finger smudges off the lens before taking pics.

I'm new to the forum (sort of, have gone here periodically over the years) and perusing certain threads. I clicked on this one and didn't realize it was a couple of years old but still good to go through. Nice car. My favorite: red.
