Default Project Insanity (LOTS OF PICS)

Hey guys so I hear you all like building things from scratch?
Now first off I just want to say that I don't want anyone saying "Oh you should have just bought a 2000 camaro and saved yourself the time and money"
Time and money aren't my concern. Building something from scratch was.

The project as of right now is about 95% complete. Just needs paint really.
Anyways now for something everyone loves! MINIMAL COMMENTING AND TONS OF PICTURES.
Here we go!

Ground Zero:
V6 AUTO 97 camaro. 800 bucks.

And so ends that chapter^!

Next I went and bought a dropout (LS1/T56 Combo from the states)

Stripped right down

Engine parts:
Harlan sharp 1.6 non adjustable rockers

AFR .650 dual valve springs

Cam I'll be using (not too aggressive)

Comp Cam 3722R/3724R HR 114
383 Stroker Kit

Head Studs

Lifters/Bearings

Bored out to 3902 (for 383)

Block painted

Bought another Camaro for the Posi Diff lol here's the journey.
Ripped it right apart!

Steel braided fuel line kit from Summit

Stage 3 (6 puck) Monster Clutch Kit

New slave

92 mm throttle body and 92 FAST with 42 lb green top injectors and modified fuel rail for -6an fitting.

Tie rods, Ball joints and such

Strange Coil Overs

Build took a swift 90 degree turn into this.

Never on the road shell that was donated by GM to a school to practice body work. Was actually a firebird but I drilled all the spot welds out and welded on Camaro quarters!

PEACE V6 CAR

lol trust me man it's more exhausting when you're actually here haha.
I was thinking red at one point but I already gloss blacked the engine bay with clear and everything so I'm committed to gloss black! I love black though really can't go wrong with that colour.

Soooo yeah the last couple days I just went berserk and pretty much finished everything mechanical wise. I have to look into a couple of small problems ie (bleed the brakes again, lower my exhaust down a bit because it rubs the driveshaft when I hammer the gas and fix a small leak). Other than that it's pretty smooth sailing.

Anyways here's some pics...

Ground. It's on it.

Yuck! Let's fix that

Love it.

SO I had an exhaust hangar (the one for the rear pass side) that I needed to de-rustify lol. Didn't want to be bothered with the sandblaster so I found a neat trick online using baking soda, water and a battery charger and the results were incredible. This bracket was believed to be garbage when I got it because it was so badly flaking with rust. Check this out.

yumm

BOOM CLEAN.

AND THIS is how my car sits right now... probably going to raise it up a bit lol.

Insane build.

But I must be missing something. What was the point of the first V6 Camaro if you didn't even use it? What was the point of taking it's panels off and transplanting them to a bird?

Well I didn't know about the firebird shell when I bought the v6 car. Initial plan was to convert it to ls1 and be done but then I found the firebird shell and the OCD kicked in hard.

What an awesome thread and build! I can't even imagine the amount of time invested in this project. To be quite honest, I don't think I've ever been that dedicated to anything! Please continue to post pics!

How long have you been at this? Great build so far, really hate that you killed the firebird shell though :/

Wink

Thanks for the kind words everybody More pics sure to come soon!
I love Camaros so I didn't have too hard of a time swapping the firebird over haha but honestly one day I'm thinking of doing close to the same thing to a firebird! (full resto project LQ4 TT T56) so you guys have that to look forward to! And as for how long I've been working on it I bought the v6 camaro last May and got the firebird shell late July, so a little more than half a year now.
