Default 98 NBM z28 Project

This will be the build thread for my 1998 z28. I've had 2 4th gen f-bodies prior to this one and here are some pics of those:

First was the first car I 100% bought on my own. It was a 1993 Firebird 3.4 m5

This is what it looked like the day i brought it home.

This was after i painted the front end.

Shortly after someone vandalized it and i junked it because i saw this on craigslist which was my next and second car i bought on my own.. well with the help of a personal loan:

It was a 1998 BPM 3.8 M5. It was much nicer both inside and out than my previous car. I put alot of time and work into the car. Mods included 3.73s and a torsen diff i bought for the bird, pacesetter headers, 32&19mm sway bars, egr delete, slp lid, flowcrapster catback, berger panel, 93-96 tails, founders LCAs and relocation brackets and a poly trans mount..

This is a diagram i made to show how to install lca relos without having to cut any brackets.

Random pics, i loved that car..

i had an m90 S/C and lower intake and heads i was planning on using for it, but sadly its life was cut short before i could do such. After 7 months of owning the car an elderly man plowed into the back of it when it was sitting outside of my house.

Luckily the insurance company came through for me and paid me 60$ more than i paid for it and gave me $3510 for it. Browsing craigslist again(terrible past time i seem to have) i found this for $3500.

The day i brought it home.

2 days later i put on my slp lid from the purple car:

It needs a couple odds and ends...
1. A-arm bushings
2. Ball joints
3. drivers side a arm is bent but drivable

So i bought these:

It also needs..
4. PHB bushings
5. LCA bushings
6. Panel bond on the drivers door (shell is separating from the frame)
7. door lock things on the inside
8. the metal behind the berger panel and tail lights needs to be pulled out like 1/4 of an inch(it bothers me that the gap for the trunk and berger panel are off.
9. Blower motor needs cleaned
10. i kinda burned the rear tires off in the first 2 weeks of having it so it needs rear tires too haha

i bought this to solve the phb problem:

got it used.

Its an A4 car and has roughly 120k on it, has good oil pressure, runs well, shifts well(has a shift kit and stall converter supposedly)

All and all i love the car, its so much more powerful than both previous cars but its not as nice on the inside or outside as the purple car was. Its not nearly half as bad as the bird though haha.

Haven't updated this thread at all since the first post. Alot has happened!

I did some stupid **** over the winter and left a rag in the intake manifold, forgot about it and about a month ago drove the car home and it was sucked into the intake port on cylinder 1.

Thought long and hard about what to do, ultimately I decided to rip the heads off and inspect the damage.

Many pics of what I've done, and what I have waiting to go on.

Parts I currently have:
1. 243s (at machine shop for valve job and some other stuff)
2. Ls6 intake (with all new gaskets)
3. Speed engineering 1 7/8
4. C5 o2 sensors for the extended leads
5. NGK plugs
6. Msd wires
7. New pcv hoses
8. Check valve for the clean side of the pcv
9. Arp head bolts
10. 99+ style water pump gaskets
11. Spohn solid motor mounts
12. Founders LCAs and relocation brackets

I'm probably forgetting some stuff, but it's quite a bit of stuff!

I deleted the a/c, egr, and air... again there's probably more on the list I'm forgetting.

Loved seeing the BPM pics AND the fact that it was a 5-speed! NBM is a great color as well though! Congrats on the new car!
