4th gen - cloth or leather?

I like the leather but I do prefer the cloth. It's always bright and sunny out here so leather would be a nuisance after prolonged parking or whatever.. cloth seats ftw!

I've had two with leather and two with cloth. I definitely prefer the cloth. F-body leather is poor quality IMO, but the cloth holds up great. Not to mention how much more comfortable the cloth is during temperature extremes.
The Firebird/Trans Am leather is particularly bad since the top of the rear seats shrinks over time. Mine started doing that when it was just four years old, and it was garage kept.
I agree with demonspeed above; the '97-'99 cloth is much better looking than the '00+ cloth for Camaro. But I still prefer the cloth either way for durability and all-weather comfort.

I like cloth for the reasons listed above, the heat and cold leather gets annoying. But I have never had another car besides camaros and all of them have been leather, so I don't know about about the better quality. I believe you guys are probably right when saying it's "cheap" almost all leather in camaros that I have seen has been cracked... But if you have nice leather seats with tinted windows. That would be my preference.

I prefer cloth. Had nice leather seats in a '00 GMC Sierra but would have liked cloth better. The Z28 I have now has all leather, not the houndstooth insert, and I don't care for it. When I get a chance to afford new seats I'll get the cloth inserts.

Agreed on the earlier 4th gen Camaro seats being better design than the later 4th gens.
As far as firebirds, both leather and cloth seats look pretty timeless to me as far as design goes.
My firebird is cloth and the design is bland, but I prefer that to some "trendy-then, now-dated design". The base seats are fairly timeless. Overall, I think we got fairly lucky compared to some of these 90's gem seats (even though the last one is a Pace Car Camaro interior, it's a great example of what was "cool" when these cars were made):

have only had cloth, a 95 and now 98. the 95 had better seats. they lasted well too, sold it after 13 years of owning, barely any wear on the bolster. 98s seats i replaced soon after buying, but they were good. never had leather but i wudnt mind trying it.

I had 'leather' in my '95 T/A that I bought and only drove in Florida. Even with max legal window tint the seats were unbearably hot against bare skin. When I traded it for the current car, I only wanted cloth. As someone else stated, I barely have any wear on the original driver bolsters after almost 175K miles.
