I just picked up a 98 Z28 with chameleon paint, goes from green to like a blue. I got a really good deal on the car and just wanted to know if it was rare.

I dont think that was ever a paint option from the factory. Only solid colors, metalic, and 2 tone. Are you sure its not repainted with a tinted clear coat? That could add the color change effect.

I guess u can call it 2 tone, its factory paint. how many 2 tones were made???

we have 2 members in my club, both firebirds, that have the chameleon paint.. and yes it was a factory color they colored it as b/g (blue, green)

For the camaro it is called Mystic-teal metallic. There were a few thousand camaro's in 98 painted that color. I'm not sure about the other years.

Specs for the mystic teal metallic paint (code 79) for '98 Camaros:
2,353 coupes
122 convertibles
2,475 total

these numbers aren't broken down further by models (example Z/28 or std)

you got your self a rare car there dude. they discontinued that color after your year or maybe a little later. i am still waiting on 99s get cheaper so i can pick up a hugger orange one.
