Default Where are all the 2nd gens?

Doesn't seem to be many 2nd gens posting in here...Anybody out there?

I just joined this site a few months ago to learn about the LS platform. I have a 70 Z28 and have been a member of Nastyz28.com for 15 years.

I am switching over to an LS7 and came here to be educated. Car is in the paint shop at the moment, giving me time to do some shopping...

Would be interested in hearing about any tips/tricks 2nd gen Camaros have learned...

What I have so far:

DSE front sub-frame, T56 magnum, DSE headers, Vintage AC, C&S racing radiator, Moser 9" 4.10 rear, considering options on an LS7...

thanks.

Well this isn't good.... I came here, from there, to learn more too! Putting a 6.0L LQ4 in mine, mating up to the original Muncie M21 and 12 bolt rear. Just picked up an LS1 intake and close to pulling the trigger on a complete accessory set up to keep the stock hood.

That's ok, we'll start our own little revolution!

Great site btw, I have learned quite a bit already.

Default 2nd gen camaros

We are just a few on here. I used the nasty z28 site for a lot of info on restoration and suspension mods others hade done, sure is a lot of info on there but I never was a member. I became a member on here because of all the info on the LS platform engine and components and have purchased items for my build. A lot of great builds with LS in conversions section. Some day I will post a thread on my build.Welcome fellow second gen owners.

Well, at least there are a few of us! I'll be starting a conversion thread soon as I just pulled the 350 this week.

You and helichik need to get a move on! Don't disrespect a 2nd gen - they are beautiful works of art...

I love 2nd gens, specifically the RS/split bumper front ends. What a great car.

2nd Gen is an awesome car for the LS conversion. It will be my next build once I find a solid candidate. I spend many of my younger years crawling under around and in a 68 Z/28 and a 70 Z/28. Used to drag race and Autocross both in the 70's. I am very familiar with both cars. I like the handling of the 2nd Gen as well as the room it will allow for the conversion. I am looking forward to all of your contributions during your builds. If I can help with any info don't hesitate to PM me. I have the following on my car....not a hijack, just offering info/advice.

67 Camaro
99 Vette LS1 Drive by Wire
LS rebuilt by me, basically stock with GM Hot Cam Kit
New T56 close ratio
Hydraulic clutch kit
Hotchkis sway bar & lowered springs
Speed tech A arms
QA1 shocks
LS fuel pump in tank
Vette style fuel return
Vintage Air
3:73 12 Bolt

A "helichik" is absolutely a woman that flies helicopters! 😜 I can't wait to get my project underway. Money is the root of all my evil, but I am taking her to the frame shop and the sandblaster for some quotes tomorrow. 😀

Thanks for responding gearhead. I am going to find out real soon how easy an LS7 fits a 70Z. I have been gathering parts while my slow a$$ body guy/painter is doing his magic. He is a great guy and very talented, but slow.

I will post some pictures once things start happening. Right now I have a Painless chassis harness, Vintage air, seal kit, C&R racing radiator, DSE subframe w/ Baer brakes, and a few other small items. Putting in a Mast Motorsports LS7 with a t56 magnum. Currently running a Moser 9" with 4.10 gears. Used that with my previous 397 sbc - guess I'll keep it for this new build also.

Going to be fun! Always interested in other people experiences - not to worry about hijacking thread...

Beautiful - a lady with a 2nd gen! Please keep us posted on your progress. I am new to the LS platform, but like Gearhead, have a lot of experience with chevys and engines in general - be happy to try and help with any questions...

Is the helicopter gig a career or hobby?

The helicopter is a career. The car is a hobby. Just picked up a Heidts 4 link for the rear.

Cool. Let us know how the 4 link goes. I put a DSE front in mine - got to wait now for funds to do the rear. DSE took all my spending money...

Yea, I wanted to at least do that for it! I moved into a new house and am doing some remodeling on it. As soon as that is done and I can get the garage cleared out, I'll probably move the 73 out there so I can start working on it. The 94 is already there, but it's covered in junk like the rest of the garage, haha!
