Default 1994 Camaro Airbag Removal

Does anyone know if you can remove the passenger side airbag on a '94 Camaro without pulling the dash? I thought it looked like there was no other way to get it out but after some searching I found several forum references to removing it through the hole for the glove box, however I couldn't find any details on the process. My car does not have the HVAC box in it, so that should make it easier but when I look at it this past weekend I could not see how it would be possible to remove it through there. The factory service manual isn't very clear on the procedure either. It basically says "unbolt it and remove it from the bracket", not very helpful.

Has anyone done it this way? Trying to lighten up the car some more for taking it to the drag strip this weekend and don't really have time to remove the whole dash. I did it once to modify a few things and pull the HVAC box out but didn't think about yanking the airbag at the same time. Thanks for any advice.
