I got the ABS module and bracket removed last night. Also got the dipstick reinstalled with the spacers to prevent it from hitting the valve cover. Alternator is back in the car. Started installing the Huron Speed braided power steering lines. Found out that for the NW 102 I had to have the cap head bolts without washers but now the throttle body is tightened back down. I also took some time to rewrap some of the wire loom with new electrical tape as the original stuff was showing its age and slowly coming off.
Installed the Huron Speed power steering lines. The fittings interfere with the stock mount alternator. Ordered the high mount alternator bracket from ICT and the extension harness for the single wire connector. Since the ABS module is gone I'm thinking I'll have enough room. fingers crossed it fits.
Got on the lathe and made up a spacer for the dipstick. Spacer was needed because the tube hit the valve covers. Worked out really well. Once that was in, found longer bolts and washers to space out the Mighty Mouse catch can from the head/valve cover. A/C condenser bracket bolted back in. Tomorrow I'll hook up the catch can lines, install the tensioner, and hook up the heater and radiator lines. The high mount alternator bracket should arrive tomorrow as well, so we will see if that will fit/work or not. Really hoping it does.
I got the ICT Billet bracket off, the power steering pump reinstalled, and removed the steering rack. I ordered a used LS1 rack off of Hawks motorsports, I think this will solve the issue of the alternator hitting the fittings.
I also got the new Trick Chassis rear end in. I still need to paint it (hopefully do that tomorrow) and still waiting on the 3rd member from Strange but it sure looks cool. Excited to get it installed and the new wheels/tires put on.
Tomorrow I plan to mount the fuel filter, and finish the installing the lines in the engine bay. Need to go pick up heat wrap for them from auto parts store.
$ and maintenance of the motorcycle and daily driver have taken up some time and budget as of late, but all in good time. Gotta make money to spend it. Also had to take time off for dove season opening this past week.
Hope everyone has a great labor day weekend. Stay safe.
I got the axle bearings and wedding ring pressed on this past Friday. The center section came in the other day. Have the rear end taped off, just need to paint it. Hope to have it installed in the car soon
The past couple weekends I finally got some time to work on the car. I got the rear end painted and assembled with all the goodies. Lining up all the studs with the center section took a little bit of doing but worth all the time spent dry fitting it. The Wilwood brakes look great and fit perfectly. Now working on removing the stock 10 bolt from the car so I can slide this beast under the car. Love the look of the Billet Specialties (don't mind the soap from the tire install on the wheel )
Got the 10- bolt all pulled out last night. Hope to get the 9-inch installed today. I'll still need to run the brake lines and get things routed, adjust the coil-overs for ride height, etc. but will be mostly complete.
I got the new 9-inch installed last night. I need to tighten the bolts up and adjust the suspension setup, but it came out great. The anti-roll bar needs to be installed as well. One thing I might need to do is trim the torque arm bracket but I'll have to finish the suspension adjustments first before I know that. Really like the look of the wheels and the big sidewall on the car.
Looking good brother! Rolled the fenders and BFH the inner well?
Eventually I will do both. They fit fine for now. The main issue I had was the bump stops hitting. I shaved them down to the edge of the bolt holes and they fit much better now.
I got everything tightened up, coilover settings adjusted, etc. Started with 6 clicks on compression and 8 clicks on rebound. Saving up for the front wheels and tires, they are pricey. Rear brake lines still to come.
Haven't posted in awhile. I had an issue with the refurbished rack and pinion hitting my alternator. I picked up another rack off of a 2002 and the difference in angle is very apparent. Now I can clean up the used one, transfer the AN fittings and rod ends and get it put into the car. To note, these are both marked as LS rack and pinions. I believe the reman one to be for 98-99 but not sure. I got it from Hawks so just as a word of caution. I also settled on where I want to mount the fuel filter but the rear axle is in the way. Once the holidays are over I'll be able to move the cars around and have space to do that. Hoping this is the year she starts...really hoping by this summer she's drive-able.
The new one that's hitting the Alt is for a V6 car.
Ah, that makes sense. I selected the one for the LS but guess there is no guarantee it'll be correct with reman's. That's why I thought maybe they changed it from 98-99 and 00-02. But v6 makes way more sense.
Made some small but steady progress. Steering rack, PS lines, and alternator all installed and fit. Had to trim alternator plastic to fit around fittings but it works. The truck alternator was too large.
Idler pulleys replaced, Katech manually tensioner installed, and serpentine belt put on. A/C pulleys replaced and belt installed.
This week, finishing engine bay with coolant system, altering front brake lines for k-member, and getting the hot wire plug harness wired in. Wiring up the fuel pumps with their relays also needs to happen. Getting close
