Default Ls1 camaro SS exhaust

Does a 2000 camaro SS have a different exhaust then the standard z28 catback? One that is already equipped with an slp hood and spoiler factory ss. Just asking i had a 95 z28 that had the 6 speed factory ss hurst shifter already installed was curious if the catbacks were the same.

Yep. the SS got a higher flowing exhaust. Some got the center exit exhaust and some the single tips.

Also, a factory Hurst shifter was not available until '99 (and it was available on any 6-speed F-bod, not just the SS). Your '95 was obviously retrofitted.

There were two different catbacks available for SS in model year 2000; the base GM system and the SLP upgrade system (called "dual/dual").

The base SS GM system differed from the Z28 system only in terms of the muffler and tips. Both SS and Z28 received a 2.75" intermediate pipe, but the SS received a shorter (case) muffler and 2.75" tail pipes with high polished, rolled edge tips while the Z28 received 2.25" tail pipes with black rectangular tips.

An SS optioned with the upgraded SLP exhaust (a "Y2Y" option that was never standard) would have received the entire dual/dual catback, which consisted of a larger 3" intermediate pipe and a completely different muffler from any of the GM systems, plus split dual (quad) tips (or could be further optioned with oval center mount tips and matching rear valance for certain model years - often called "CME" - but CME was the same as "dual/dual" other than the tail pipe/tip configuration). This system was only optional on SS via SLP (not installed by GM), never on base Z28.

As mentioned above, the Hurst shifter was not an SS-only option.

Yes you bet i had bought a 95 z28 that was purple with hooker shortys, K&N CAI, crane gold 1.7 rolller rockers, flowmaster muffler, 4.10s in 2008 and when i went to swap it out with a hurst comp/plus shifter noticed it had a factory stock hurst shifter had a thinner mounting surface. Nice little hurst shifter i had sold for 40$ after getting a deal on the comp/plus. I posted another thread after getting the 2000 ss exhaust off. Can you tell if this is the factory ss catback with a flowmaster or aftermarket catback? The pipe is 3" from the muffler to the y pipe. Not sure if its exhaust shop made 3" with muffler or a flowmaster catback for f-body? How much is this new and whats a good asking price mainly just for the catback no ypipe. Need some money for 99 corvette ran into some car problems with it. It is a 3" catback and polished 3" tips and i thought stock was 2.75". Flowmaster US Patents 6089347 4574914 4809812 5123502 5444197 & FGN Patents. The exhaust part numbers are the same as this f-body catback on ebay but the tips dont say flowmaster and its welded. 1998-2002 Camaro SS Firebird Trans Am Flowmaster Cat Back Exhaust LS1 5.7L P1 | eBay

A seller on ebay with the same catback for 300$ said it was a 40 series muffler had the same part numbers but was discontinued. Im going to try and get 250$ for it would work perfect for someone with stock manifolds and or headers with the y-pipe for an affordable price. Trying to sell it to get a cam and balancer for my 99 corvette.

Default Still available?

I believe you had a Y-pipe dorm sale or was it only the cat-back flowmaster? I’d be interested in the Y-pipe if it’s not stock and a upgrade that would bolt up to my stock manifolds for now until I get headers down the road? I have a 1999 SS 6speed Man Hurst car has 30k miles and still has new car smell, leather interior T-tops, and I’m trying to get a little more sound out of her I have the electric cutout on the intermediate pipe after theY-pipe and it’s not as loud as I thought it would be when opened so I would think at least a bigger possibly off-road y-pipe would fix that so I was curious? Thanks
