My 68 RS/SS has a 454 out of a 1985-1988 Truck, therefore, it has the "peanut port" heads.
I want to change the heads but can't afford to anytime soon.
A friend of mine has offered up a set of 454 Marine heads (Cast# 10114156)...91-up...oval...OPEN...Gen.V & VI 454, 118cc chamber I: 2.07"
E: 1.72"
.
I've heard they have larger water jackets and stainless steel valves and springs.
I don't know any other differences and can't find any info anywhere.
Question is, would I gain anything by putting these on?
These are what's in it now

oval ports are best for low end torque. but the 454 you got is a low compression motor. i beleive along the lines of 8.5.1 which is perfect for a whipple supercharger. heads and blower on that motor would be plenty..hey if you got any other big block questions holler at me..

Hey Ron,when you swap heads on the big block be sure to check which head gasket you need because the waterjacket holes are a little different shaped. They will fit but be sure of the gaskets!!
What I mean is gen 4 to say gen 5 or 6 head
