I hit 165 out by Big Bend National park in southwest Texas keeping up with a corvette. My car has never had a limiter or governer on it. I believe that there was a little more room to go too but that was enough speed for me, the front end gets a little squirrly at those speeds. Don't recommend trying this unless you are waaaaayyyy out in the middle of nowhere, and its long, straight and flat.

BTW, I'm in Germany (NO SPEED LIMIT in many places) right now, and have been since '94.

i was questioning the amount of power it takes to overcome
drag....
still a lil skepticle on the 180 though.
anyone have proof?
sorry to be such a pessamist but thats just me.

LPE did 191 in with one of his 440HP motors in a LT1 based car... these cars are very NOT drag limited compared to many other "super cars". IE MB and BMW

I was in my buddies 1994 Formula, and we were cruisin and as soon as we hit 110 mph, the top speed limiter kicked in, scared the **** out of us. I have done 155+ in my LS1. In my buddies heavily modded 2002 BMW M3, we have done 180+

The z with mods was capable of 160, but it didn't want to do anything after 155 (and the fact I was running out of straight road) so I backed it off at around 157-ish. Suprisingly, the fastest I've gone is in a 4 door 7 series BMW 12 banger. That thing didn't take forever to do it either, and it probably weighs a good 700+ over an f-car.

Wonder If I could pull 6th now w/ 572rw.

If 300 rwhp will propel you to 162, then you need approximately 1056 rwhp to get to 304. (Not that the body would hold up anyways. Wind resistance goes up squared to the speed.)
That puts a 572 rwhp capable of about 225 mph. And it takes about 450 rwhp to get to 200 mph.
