Also, there are a few other minor things that make the SS different. Such as the power-steering cooler.

Hey guys I need help here. I have a 1999 Camaro SS with the Y2Y and suspension package. My front suspension bushings are really worn out and I would like to replace them with a set of those energy suspension poloyurethane bushing kits. However, summit racing says that it will not fit 1LE cars. Does that mean that it will not fit my car? How do I know if my car is a 1LE car?

[QUOTE=IWannaSS;1929102]what are the differences between an LS1 SS and LS1 Z28. other than body differences what are the other differences?[/QUOT

The SS has bigger injectors.
275/40/17 Tires.(IF YOU GET A Z28 WITH THE P235/55R-16 touring tires THEY ARE LIMITED TO 108MPH)
17X9 Wheels.
RAM-AIR HOOD SCOOP.
Bigger swaybars.
Free flowing exhaust system. (40% less restrictive than the Z28)
Bigger spoiler.
Different intake.
Different grille insert.

Unless you are referring to either the optional Blackwing lid that came as part of the 345 HP package (which was a rare option) or the LS6 intake that came from the factory on both '01 and '02 LS1 no matter if a Z28 or an SS.

Not necessarily. It was an option, not a standard package feature.

Sounds like you need to read this: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....83&postcount=5

It shocks me that these threads still come up. What shocks me even more is some of the mis-information that still floats around.

This must have been discussed 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times.

Please, use search. Thanx.

You must be referring to the Y2Y option of SLP dual/dual. The base SS system is certainly not 40% less restrictive than a Z28 system.

from what i can tell there is only about a 10 horse power difference between them so with some basic mods it doesnt really matter either way...

Seems like I read somewhere that the last batch of 02 SS's & Z/28's were blueprinted from the factory . Has anyone else seen or heard of this ?

I have an 02 SS with the 345 hp package and it didn't do much of anything. Nice to look at the cool stickers and the cme though.

the suspension is a little better for the shocks/swaybar and the exhaust is 3" which flows verry good other than that its looks which the hood and spoiler look sweet on the SS IMO.
But its not a faster or better car.
haha Yeah I see this tred abot once a week haha.

what exactly is the difference between the intake of an ss and a z28? is it worth 50 bucs for a z28 owner to get an ss intake?

I assume by WS6 you are referring to the Ram Air which the topic of Ram Air effectiveness has already been covered in GREAT detail. Ram Air is only going to add power if you are doing eleventy billion miles per hour. Otherwise consider it an appearence mod at best. I wouldn't waste money on the SLP CAI kit either.

As far as the injector argument, GM did change the size of injectors from a 28# in '98 to a 26# in '99-'00 and changed again to 28# injectors for '01-'02 on ALL LS1's but it was not an SS or Z28 specific change.

Read this for the differences between years:https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....80&postcount=2

You will not find proof, because it is not true. HERE is the truth:

Injector size is based on year, not model. An LS1, is an LS1. No difference from Z28 to SS to Trans Am to Formula, as stated in the quote above.

None of the F-bodies come with an actual 3" exhaust unless you ordered your SS with the SLP dual/dual as a Y2Y option. Or if you have a Firehawk (they came standard with the dual/dual). A base SS has the same I-pipe size as the Z28, only difference is the tailpipe size (2.5" for the SS, 2.25" for the Z28).

Shocks are the same stock, unless you have a 1LE SS or an SS with Bilstein suspension from SLP (also an extra Y2Y option).

There is no difference with the intake. '98-'00 Z28s and SSs have an LS1 intake, and '01-'02 Z28s and SSs have an LS6 intake.

If you mean the difference in the air lid, there is ONLY a difference if the SS had the optional Blackwing lid through SLP (another Y2Y option). Otherwise, the SS and Z28 have the same air lid.
