You will not find proof, because it is not true. HERE is the truth:

Injector size is based on year, not model. An LS1, is an LS1. No difference from Z28 to SS to Trans Am to Formula, as stated in the quote above.
None of the F-bodies come with an actual 3" exhaust unless you ordered your SS with the SLP dual/dual as a Y2Y option. Or if you have a Firehawk (they came standard with the dual/dual). A base SS has the same I-pipe size as the Z28, only difference is the tailpipe size (2.5" for the SS, 2.25" for the Z28).
Shocks are the same stock, unless you have a 1LE SS or an SS with Bilstein suspension from SLP (also an extra Y2Y option).
There is no difference with the intake. '98-'00 Z28s and SSs have an LS1 intake, and '01-'02 Z28s and SSs have an LS6 intake.
If you mean the difference in the air lid, there is ONLY a difference if the SS had the optional Blackwing lid through SLP (another Y2Y option). Otherwise, the SS and Z28 have the same air lid.

The SS came standard with 2 3/4 I pipe just so you know because I did post 3 which thats not standard.
but the Z and the SS are 99% the same.
And a lid and a SSRA kit work wonders for this car.

Just to add (if it hasn't been mentioned yet)
Aside from the engine (there are no differences in the engine itself),
1. There are differences in the suspension bet. the Z28 and the 'SS (regardless of base and additional content). The 'SS got a bigger front sway bar, stiffer shocks and jounce spacers. You could have had your choice of optional suspension components in the 'SS with level 1 and 2 suspension set ups, where you could've received either lowered springs, a thicker front sway bar, and bushings for the panhard bar and lower control arms. The level 2 option would have given you the adjustable shocks.
2. There is a difference in the vin between the Z28 and 'SS. All 'SS cars (there may have been some exceptions during the last year and perhaps with some canadian models..not sure) were finished and given a serial number by SLP, regardless of content.
3. You had a choice of different catback exhaust set-ups with the 'SS, where as you did not have that option available for the Z28.
In all, IMO the differences between the SS and the Z28 won't really amount to a noticeable handicap in performance for the Z28, unless the car was ordered with all season radials; In that case, the speed for the non-z rated tires would've been limited to +-110 mph. As long as you have or are looking to buy a mint fcar with an ls1, then the motor and the car's condition is the most important thing.
