I was just looking at camaroz28.net and found this information. It says that only 45 Maroon camaros were built in 99 and only 10 Z28s with my interior/exterior combination? (neutral = tan leather?) It says they were used as "captive vehicles" and only driven by GM employees. My car is a 99 camaro with the tan leather interior, Neutral top and the N98 wheels. I have a print out from the dealer about my car and it says
BARS Order Type- 80- Employee Used Car (CVMS use)
Here is the article I got the information from:
1999 Montery Maroon Camaro Production Numbers
http://www.camaroz28.com/articles/99...s/maroon.shtml
Does this mean that my car was one of the GM "captive vehicles" and that mine was 1 of 10 built in 1999? I bought this car from a dealer in Wisconsin if that matters.
Thanks
-Lane

In order for the Ste. Therese assembly plant to produce F-cars in a new color at S.O.P. (Start of Production) it is necessary to do what is called a "color pull-ahead." While new colors are built during pilot build, it is important to build a "batch" of cars in the new color to ensure that paint quality meets the high standards that General Motors insists upon.
Thus, a "batch" of prior model year cars are ordered and built in the new color. They receive a comprehensive list of paint quality checks and then are shipped to the U.S. for use in the General Motors "Captive Fleet" of vehicles. These cars are used, for the most part, as company vehicles and then disposed of through the GM Dealer Auction.
In 1999, a group of Camaros and Firebirds were produced in the "new for 2000" color 44U - Monterey Maroon. All Camaros were built with FE9 Federal Emissions. A total of 45 Camaros were built in 5 combinations. (at least 10 of each combination with the exception of the 2 lone Z28 coupes without CC1 or Body side moldings) 3 additional convertibles were to be built, but were changed to 10U White prior to build.
The breakdown is as follows:
Camaro V6 Coupe:
14B Dark Gray Cloth Interior
36 Engine with MX0 Automatic
PEG 1SC
N96 Wheels
CC1 Roof Panels
Total 10 units
Camaro V6 Convertible:
522 Neutral Leather Interior
56T Neutral Top
L36 Engine with MX0 Automatic
PEG 1SB
N96 Wheels
Total 13 units
Camaro Z28 Coupe:
522 Neutral Leather Interior
LS1 Engine with MX0 Automatic
CC1 Roof Panels
PEG 1SE
N98 Wheels
Total 10 units
Camaro Z28 Convertible:
522 Neutral Leather Interior
56T Neutral Top
LS1 Engine with MX0 Automatic
PEG 1SC
N98 Wheels
Total 10 units
Camaro Z28 Coupe:
14B Dark Gray Cloth Interior
LS1 Engine with MX0 Automatic
PEG 1SD
N98 Wheels
Total 2 units
Are these units rare? A total of just over 42,000 1999 Camaros were built for the US - with 45 being painted Monterey Maroon. Are these cars worth more or are more collectible than a 1999 Camaro painted in another color? Not necessarily. In the final analysis, this will be determined by the buyers of these cars in the years ahead.

Cool! I wonder if it will be worth more if I try to sell it?
Im gonna do some follow up at the dealership to make sure, my dad works there so he'll be able to find out. But with it being 99 and the 44u paint code I don't really see any other variables
thanks!

I saw this like a year ago.. I have seen a couple for sale every now and then.. One was actually an SS convertible i think... Maybe just a Z vert, but i remember i was enthrawled by its rareness. The guy selling it had no idea either.

TT meant t top. THe cars interior is the neautral leather color and the top roof panel was painted black along with the rear views when I got it. when I put 1 of 12 I thought it said there were 12 ttop cars with the v8 made but i guess it was only 10 maybee ill just put one of 45 that year. I was jus trying to say one of ten z28s with ttops that year. Im just gonna change it to one of 45. I think I was getting too specifc too!
