this is the first time i have tried this.

here is whats left of my cousins 99 or 00 Z-28.

they were doin bout 150-160 and had a blow out.
hit a tree, flipped spun rolled, clipped some trees 6' high, landed on another tree and heres whats left of his car.
the t-tops were never found.
peices of the car were found out to 200yds.

my cousin was killed and the other 2 passengers were thrown from the car, the battery was found almost 150yds from the tree where the car stopped.

Sorry to hear about that. Having done those speeds before I can not for the life of me give a reason why? I've got two kids and yet 5th gear can really get your car going deep triple digits. I'm thinking the 4.10s will be a nice addition...quick is better than fast.

Damn shame. This is why it is best to take it to the track. Granted , you might still get hurt or killed but you're in a controlled situation with emergency techs on hand to give you immediate treatment. I really hate to see this sort of thing. My heartfelt condolences go to your family.

Sorry about your loss...My condolenses go to you and your family....I was hit head on in a '98 Mustang GT Convertible on May 12, 2005, by a older gentlemen and his sister in a Chrysler New Yorker.....Not to much to salvage from the totaled mustang...I am still recovering and will be for quite sometime. I look at my life differently now...and I hope that those who look at these pictures even though it wont bring your cousin back....I hope they will save someone elses life by you sharing them with others. Once again my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

I find myself driving 120 sometimes when I actually do take the car out, but its not till later that I think of how lucky I was that nothing happened.

I know what you mean. My car has 2.73's and 100 comes up quick with low revs. I've had it up to 140'ish and I remember thinking, "What if a tire blows?"

Sorry to hear of your loss. I'm sure this will make a bunch of us think what we're doing when we're on the road.

sorry to hear about that man, as everyone else said my condolenses go to u and your family, its really a tragedy that something like that can happen and something can be destroyed so easily and in ways you coul never imagine wether it be a life or a vehicle.. it almost brings me to tears because a few years ago i had a SVT focus and hydroplaned, hit a bed of 20lb rocks, cut the gas tank open, rolled 9 times into a dogwood tree and landed upside down in a ditch..... not a scratch or a headache with no seatbelt... it makes you look at life differently... again man. so sorry to hear about you loss..

sorry about your loss man. a kid did that in a neighboring town (drunk i might add) at 140 he ramped a hill in his 99 T/A and hit a tree...paralyzed him from the waist down and threw the other kid out the ttop and he was miraculously not hurt. im sorry for you loss...these things shatter your complacency

There is one thing you must remember before you drive that fast for ANY length of time. You can pick up a fairly large nail and as long as the inner liner of a tubeless tire seals around it it won't leak unless you park on it which changes the nail's position and will usually leak (but not ALWAYS). Check your RR tire right now and about half of you with 10K+ miles on your tires will have a nail in at least one tire and usually the RR. 75% of the nails you pick up will be in the RR tire. A blow-out on the rear is least controllable.

That same nail that stays put at lower speeds (mainly because of the steel belt) will give way to centrifugal force and allow a slow leak that you will never feel. When the heat generated by the low air pressure reaches the temperature at which the tire was vulcanized (not long) it WILL come apart. Under these circumstances you might as well have polished up your obit.

This is a strange case of timing but your post rings so true , grb. I found a bolt had lodged itself in the left rear tire of my T/A . I plugged it but the sidewall has a tear in it I noticed after airing the tire up. I didn't take any chances and went out and bought a new set for the car. My GF drives it daily and this thread made me think of the consequences if I went the cheap route and let it be. The other three tires had tread but were at the end of their useful tread life. Modding a car is great and all , but risking your safety is not a good idea , ever.

A small hole is no problem if it is properly repaired. Technically though the tire looses it's speed rating. But that doesn't really matter. Never go over 90 or so on any tire that has been damaged. Too much could go wrong.

If you live in or frequently visit a neighborhood with new construction in it I can just about guarantee you have a nail in a tire....or soon will.

The hole didn't concern me nearly as much as the split sidewall . That was a tragedy waiting to happen.

sorry to hear about ur loss on my tires i know for sure i have a ball on one of them but havent had time to check i know for sure that its' one of the rear tires i just drive it but i know one of these days its going to blow out
