Default Just got a print out of my RPO codes, and have a few questions.

It has the code R9W rear window defogger then says not desired right next to it "Not Desired". Does this mean my car was supposed to have it but the first owner didn't want it? The car was first purchased out of the Phoenix area so i guess it's not totaly necasary to have it there. Also I found out my car has 2.73's I always thought it had 3.23's because it has an aluminum drive line. So those were a couple of things that I thought were pretty wierd. It also has T82 twilight sentenial headlamps, are those just the bulbs they used? Also it says the car has a gross weight rating of 4218 lbs . Can the car be that heavy?

3.23's were standard on SS/Firehawk/WS6. Optional on others.

4218 lbs is the gross wieght which includes a full rated payload.

Can't say I've ever seen an F-body w/o a rear defroster grid, no clue about the headlamps.

I believe the twilight headlamps are the auto headlights. When it detects twilight it automaticly turns the headlights on.

"Electric rear window defogger" was a $170 option on my car, bought it new in North Carolina - friend of mine has a 2K w/o it - bought new in Florida.

i hate the automatic headlamps. and i don't think they were stadard on all 98-02 cars, as my friend has 3 b4cs, none of which have automatic headlamps. (two 01s and an 00)

"Not Desired" usually means the customer ordered the car, (didn't get it from dealer stock) and checked what options he/she wanted, and those options that they didn't check are termed "Not Desired" at least that's how it was explained to me
The Al driveshaft (I always thought they were standard on SS, WS6, and autos with the 3.23 gears, and the steel was standard for the 2.73 autos) could've been put on at any time after the car was purchased, or as a warranty fix (couldn't get a steel DS so had to use the Al), or done as part of the original deal

Depending on what was available in the factory at the time you might have gotten an AL DS w/2.73's. I mean, look at it this way, it's a factory, you run out of 1 part but have an acceptable (upgrade) substitute. What ya gonna do, shut the place down? I remember back in Dec 69 my cousin bought a new Camaro (build date 11-69). It shouldn't have had a TH400 with a 350cid (it was an RS/SS) but that's what it had. If your car was a year end build it might have any number of anomalies as the factory would have used up what ever they had available to finish out the inventory.

I feel kinda special not having rear defogger now. J/K. I have one more question what is 1SZ prefered equipment savings? Seems like the more I look at this paper the more questions I have. It sure is nice not having to decode all the RPO's on the sticker though. Shows everything, and it was free to boot.

I have the 1SZ code too - think it's just some GM/dealer marketing thing. BTW, I wish my car didn't have the rear defogger - never use it and would like to get my windows tinted, but don't want to put it over the wires.

RPO R9W rear window defogger was always optional equipment.
But it seems like 95% of cars have it.

I kind of wish my car had it becuase I drive it year round. Hopefully not for long though, my Grandfather gave me a 81 Datsun truck a while back (it is my first vehicle ) just have in good running condition. I'm tired of finding a new door ding on my car every other week. Its funny it seems the farther away I park the more it gets hit.
