Please post up if you can think of any more:

1. 10 bolt
2. Battery
3. Passenger Signal bulb
4. 3-4 shift fork
5. Reverse Syncro
6. Passenger window motor
7. Clutch
8. Rear hatch lock
9. Front and Rear Rotors
10. Rear Shocks
11. Possibly new water pump
i have replaced everything but the 10 bolt, 3-4 shift fork, and reverse syncro. BTW Would the my car goes into all gears hard, maybe i need shift fork and reverse syncro also?

1. Rack and Pinion (alignment shop put the lift on it and pick the car up, then refused that they did it wrong when I stood there and watched
2. Alternator ( I was attempting to drive my car on vacation....only got half way. Never had any problems with it until I decided to take it on vacation dammit. I can drive it to the drag strip, beat on it, and then drive it home but I can't cruise at 70 to the beach and back....I only went to MD from PA dammit...OH ya, and like a true car guy, my brother and I tore it apart in the hotel parking lot, got the alternator out and took it to a shop and had it rebuilt....got it back in and it lasted 5 minutes.... Man did I get screwed over ...Only thing that saved my *** was our family towing business Most pist off I think I've ever been
3. Battery ( because of the alternator)
4. Passener lower A arm ( bent when I got the car )
5. Tilt mechanism on the column ( no idea how that broke )
6. Soon to be clutch....

All of this on a car that has 7k.....but it's such a sweet car

98' SS M6 with ~102,000 miles... I've had it since new.

Rear pinon seal under warrentee
Transmission under warrentee (bad syncro)
A.I.R. pumps (2)
Water pump
Sway bar bushings (rear was squeaking badly)
Slave cylinder died in at a busy intersection prompting me to swear at my car the first time
Plastic clip that holds cruise control kill switch under dash broke scaring the h311 out of me when I pushed in the cluch to downshift on an offramp and the engine bounced off the rev limiter until I hit the brake. Second cursing and last cursing session about the car.

Despite what seems like a pretty good list, this is nothing compared the crap I went through with my 91' Z28 a the span of 25,000 miles. Compared to that, this car has been very reliable and dependable. The repair bills with the 91' made me seriously consider anything other than another Camaro.

2. Front left turn signal bulb(water)
3. Turn signal switch (Dealer kept replaceing bulbs which didnt fix it)
4. Pinion seal leaking
5. wiped out rear bearings from shoddy pinion seal work.

The thread question is:
'Common 4th Gen problems??!!"

I added:
'Piston Slap'

So, I did not replace my piston slap, instead got it fixed.

...along with everyone elses listed 'Common 4th Gen problems'.

I do not know if you would call this a problem but the plastic cover on the steering wheel airbag has a liitle tear in it and yesterday I saw a other f-body with the same problem. I am happy that I switched steering wheels because it looks ugly.

Well I hope you have better luck. From all I've been reading, people don't have many real problems with these cars.

Not like when I used to hang out at places like www.sccoa.com for my t-bird, those things broke everything all the time it seemed, including mine. I haven't had any real problems with my Z since I got it 20,000 miles ago, for a total of 70k now. Well, slightly warped rotors, occasionally slow top...the motor seems real solid and never hear about anybody having motor problems besides a little oil consumption, even on the built ones. Not like on my ford, Soooo many things broke on that car, head gaskets, tranny, cooling system off the top of my head, though I did love the car and still have it in the yard actually. Someday maybe I'll fix all the little things it needs(not mentioned stuff, that's all fixed) and drive it again or sell it.

Don't really care about it since I have my LS1

i exited a ramp, pushed the clutch in and the revs just shot up to 6k
and bounced a few times befor i turned the car off completly............while still getting off ramp.

re-started, never happened again?
