Common 4th Gen problems??!!
Well I was working on my car today.... again... and was just thinking of how many things I have actually replaced that have either died or failed since I have gotten my car. I noticed that alot of other people where having the same common OEM issues that I had. Here is the list of things that I had to replace on my car alone, not moding, just replaced. Please post up if you can think of any more:
1. 10 bolt
2. Battery
3. Passenger Signal bulb
4. 3-4 shift fork
5. Reverse Syncro
6. Passenger window motor
7. Clutch
8. Rear hatch lock
9. Front and Rear Rotors
10. Rear Shocks
11. Possibly new water pump

I've replaced (in order):
1. Oil pan gasket (started leaking when I started running synthetic after I bought the car with 25k miles on it)
2. Battery
3. Driver and passenger side headlight motors
4. A/C compressor
5. A/C idler pulley and tensioner (went out after a new belt was put on after condenser was replaced and underdrive pulley was installed)
In the future, I imagine I will have to replace both power window motors, as those frequently wear out, as well as the power antenna. All are working fine now, but we'll see what happens.

Only thing I have replaced on the SS is the front turn signals. They are a common item that have to be replaced on all the 4th gens. Get water in the housing and fry out. Not too bad considering it could be worse.

I replaced practically everything on my LT1, until I got fed up and replaced IT with an LS1.
On my LS1, I've done:
1. Brake rotors (they warp easy)
2. Alternator
3. Battery (since the stupid alternator was gone, it drained the battery)
4. Turn signal-o-rama (does it ever end!?!)
5. Water pump (No Optispark to go to hell with the water pump, woohoo!)
That's 'bout it, with close to 76k on the dial. Considering my 3rd gen and LT1 had 10x that, I'm pretty pleased... and waiting for the pain.

Ooo yea, i forgot one more thing... I had the roof replaced... Under warrenty.... Paint started to bubble and peel next to the windshield. Also had the spoiler replaced for the same issue.
Damn, seems like the turn signals are in the lead for OEM replacement....

The previous owner replaced/fixed everything listed.
Opti-spark for the LT1 owners.
Water pump.
Drivers side window motor.
Drivers side headlight motor.
What if fixed/replaced.
Rear squeak caused by worn endlink bushings.
Crappy DeCarbon shocks with Bilsteins.

WS6:
-transmission (twice)
-both front turn signal socketts (and multiple bulbs)
-10-bolt
-rotors
-battery
-low-beam headlights
-added second spring to trunk release
-seatbelt holder on driver's seat
not too bad I guess for 75K miles....
Firehawk:
-driver's window motor
-rotors
-2 10-bolts
-battery
-low-beam headlights
-seatbelt holder on passenger side
-clutch
-front turn signal bulb on passenger side
-added spring to trunk release
not going to complain with this list either and 70K miles...
