Choosing between 99-02 ss/z28
I am going to be searching for a camaro in between those years if i plan to keep the car just to bolt ons like headers, exhaust, gears im assuming that the 01-02 z28/ss would be the fastest for this. But if i decide to go heads/cam nitrous, gears, exhuast then would it really matter what year i got becuase arent they all the same block or is the upper intake different on a certain year. tell me what u guys think and if there is a site that i could see that have all the different specs on the motors through the years.

I could be wrong but, the 98 - 00 camaro would be best for just simple bolt ons because it has a more aggressive stock cam than the 01 and 02 camaros. the horsepower is still the same though because the 01 02 recieved the ls6 intake manifold which makes about 20 more hp to the tire. so in essence if you add the ls6 intake you will make an extra 20hp to the wheels. however if you do decide to go with heads and cam, go with the 01 02 because youll be changing the stock cam out anyway and youll already have the ls6 intake manifold . hope this helped.

All else equal, I'd get an '01 or '02, especially if you are going to heavily mod the car.
There is a casting difference that allows the late '00 and up blocks to oil a lot better at high RPM and also allows the block to be structurally "better". I forgot the exact name of the port in the block, (it's on the back side, end) but it was highlighted in the big article on GEN III motors that Hot Rod Magazine did a while back. Ever since I have made a mental note that for a serious motor build, I should get an '01 or '02 (some '00's are the same, but to be sure, get an '01+)
For a mildly modded car... say up to 350-360 RWHP, it will probably not make a difference, esp. if you don't rev it very high.
