Default Put my motor in last week...got pics.

377 small block ready to haul the mail . There's really not much to do to get it running but the fuel system and wiring harness, JUST to get it started. To get it on the street, yeah there's a bit more. Enjoy.

I thought it was a simple connection. It has the connection just hanging there.

Ill probably be ordering a the painless pro street wiring harness today. If anything, that will simplify the install of all electrical accessories hopefully.

I checked it out also cuz you have me wondering too. I've been told two things. One, it's a 400 block with a 350 crank and two, it's a bored out 350. Number one is ruled out because ive ran the number on the block and its a 350 block. So it's most likely a 350 block.

The current setup I have (motor, car, etc.) I ran in one of those calculators to see what time I would run. The motor should have a good 650 horsepower in it and the car should weigh in at about 3100 or somewhere around there. Along with a couple of other factors, it said the car's good for a 9.58 . That is assuming that everything's perfect though. And that's all on motor

Well if it is a true 377 it is a 400 small block with a 350 crank, but here is the thing. If it is a 377 you wont be making anywhere close to 650 horsepower because that engine setup is for straight torque. I know you are probably wandering how I might know this and its because this was one of our motors of choice for our dirt track cars. You will be turning a serious 60 foot time, well that is if you can hook.

So what you're saying is that it'll be a 60 foot queen . The only other thing I can think of if it's not a 377 like you said, then maybe a 383 or something? Good thing to know that a 377 is for straight torque. Thanks

I have some updates. Today UPS paid me a visit and dropped off some stuff. I received some header adapter plates and a painless wiring harness. The passenger side header went on just to see how it would look and fit. Should be interesting to put the driver side header on. Enjoy the pics.

Some donor parts

#1 a 377 isnot a motor for torque it is a destroked 400 which equals rpm. short stroke means more rpm less torque. #2 it could be a 377 out of a 350 block. that is nothing but a 3.75 stroke crank like a 383 uses but without boring the motor .030 over. so what have we learned
4.125borex3.48 equals 377 high rpm no torque motor
4.00borex3.75 equals long stroke 377 decent torque
4.030borex3.75 equals 383
anyone of these motors is going to have problems makeing 650hp with A. conventional heads B. without a huge solid roller C. without stupid high CR
rethink your plan

2 inch hooker headers. Yesterday we had to have one tube totally redone on the driver side because it was hitting the steering box bad. We took it to a welding shop and they cut it off and redid it completely. It fits now .

68maro - The guy that knows the motor best told me it makes around 13.5:1 compression with a .705" roller and as for the heads they've been worked to flow in every aspect possible. He told me that they have about 5 grand into the heads including rockers, valves, etc. I imagine. It does have shaft rocker system in it too.

if a guy you know told you about the motor then why don't you know what size it is? also a conventional head smallblock is not going to make 650hp also where did you get the 9.58 from every calculator and slide rule puts 650hp at 3100lbs in the 10.30-.40 range if everything is optimal.

the slide rule says you need 810hp-830hp to run 9.58

I know it's a 377, just that I started thinking otherwise when people told me that a 377 is a dirt track motor, etc. such as the above post. I don't know much about the bore vs stroke relation as to what size comes out of both. The most I've heard of a 377 were from people telling me that it's a 400 block, etc. etc. until I did my own little research. The calculator I used was the one on nationaldrivetrain going through the traps at 7200 with a 28 inch tire. Don't know if that's optimal but I talked to a guy I know that's driven with this motor and he said he would shift around 7000'ish so I was just playing with some figures. I apologize if i'm very misunderstanding or misinformed but alot of what I tell you guys is what the people that know the motor best have told me. The only way we can tell what the car will actually run is by taking it to the dragstrip and doing some passes. It's not ready just yet as you can tell by the pics.

If it actually is a 10.30-40, it would be better to me, that way I wouldn't have to go through the hassle of getting my license.
