motor/trans are out of my 81 camaro (some questions)
On last Friday me and a couple friends pulled out the 267 and turbo 350 outta my car. I put a shift kit in the trans, and have a little stall there for it to (Torkmaster 2100rpm stall). In place of my 267 is gonna be a 355. I have it all assembled and sittin in the bed of my truck right now (just had to wait til I painted all my brackets and pullleys n such).
Specs on motor: - completely rebuilt n checked by the machine shop.
.030 over, hypereutectic flat tops, moly rings, Comp Cams high energy street 260 cam ( 1200-5200, .440" lift intake & exhaust, 212 duration at 050 intake & exhaust, 110 LSA) Stock heads have been completely redone and have 76cc chambers, and 1.94/1.50 valves (gonna buy new heads in a year or so), a RPM Air gap manifold (idle-5500), holley 600 (shouldn't need any bigger, right?), and a White Performance distributor (76$ special off of ebay - says its 50K volt but they told me it's actually 65K volt, bronze terminals, billet shaft...looks great). How much advance should I run???
I also got some cragar classic 15" deep dish rims w/ MT indy profile N50-15 tires in reallllly good shape (tread width is 11.8") and some skinnier 14" cragars w/ rims w/ 205's for 75$. Back tires stick out about 3" (being measured at the top of my fender) so I undecided if I'm gonna run em on the street. Eventually I'll post up pics and get your guys opinions on if they look good or not.
All this is goin in an 81 camaro thats painted metallic gray w/ white ralley stripes and a L88 hood. I have taken a insane amount of pics b4 and a couple while we were pullin the motor but don't have access to them now (at work) but just wanted to start tellin you guys. When I get home on Saturday and get the pics resized and all - I'll post em.

with the price of heads like vortecs or l98 heads...why are you putting 76cc castings back on?
a 600 would be right at home on what you have, vac sec?....get the spring kit and housing...
for advance you're going to have to see how much you can go until it pings, then back it off a degree at a time

black - I didn't get vortec's just cuz I'd have to get different valve covers, and different roller rockers. I already had 1.5's for standard heads, and didn't budget spending another $175 + on new ones....

Yeah the carb is vac sec's........

Update - Motor and tranny back in, damn near ready to go. Would've had it done last Friday/Saturday, but I need different trans cooler line fittings, to drop in the distributor, fill the trans, and put the exhaust back on. I'm thinking of breakin in the cam w/ out the exhaust. Pro's / Cons to doin that? After cam break in I'm changin the oil & filter.....and driving it. Motor looks really nice in there, better than I thought it was gonna look. Once again - pics to come!

changed my mind - put the exhaust on to be nice to my neighbors.....
Car finally started (had to play w/ the timing for a long @$$ time, which was weird to me cuz I never had to mess w/ it for that long b4... ) Then after I broke in the cam as recommended I shut off the engine and tried to restart it only to find out my starter was fried. Went down to the store, bought one for a 350 - get home, put it in and hit the key - briiiiiiiinnnngggg ( or something like that) stupid starter wasn't even attempting to engage the flexplate. hmm, does it need shimmed? No!!!! - I forgot I had reused my flexplate off my old 267....d@mn! - exchanged for the right starter (for a 267), still wouldn't fire...wtf??
Oh joy, my (Holley) carb's drippin farkin fuel just sitting there. - adjust the bowls and idle mixture screws and turn it over for a while to vent out all of the fuel, - fires...but I can hear what sounds like 2 or 3 cylinders not firing, let it warm up and got alot better. I just bought this damn carb not even 2 years ago, should I just bite the bullet and buy a demon (pry a 650) or what??
Oh btw - what a farkin difference!!!!! That 355 pushed me back in the seat at 2100rpm's as well as my 267 did at full throttle! (and I was only giving it maybe 1/2 throttle!!!) - can't wait to give those 2.56's to the trash man (I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be getting 3.73's)
I'll get pics as soon as I get my damn comp fixed - it took a poop last night

Here's a pic of the motor in the car (just w/out the distributor) and a couple random shots....I know the one of the front of the car sucks, but it's all I have. I put in the shot of the L88 hood so you guys would see it....yes I know it's cracked, just wanted to show you guys what it looked like.....
