'01-'02 are the two years with the most commonality,
LS6 intake and no EGR. Plus perhaps a more modding-
friendly OS and on the downside a stumpier little cam.
Like you were going to leave that be. But mile for mile
on the clock an older one will be cheaper, so more
money for the goodies.

well i have a 98 z28 with a lid and exhaust, and a friend of mine has an 02 ws6 with the same power mods, but LCA's and a panhard bar and drag radials. he gets me from a dig,but only due to better a 60". but i beat him when we go from a roll. and im at 83k miles and hes just a tad over 50k. maybe mine is just a factory freak, but 98's > all

not sure if it matters to you but i never buy the first model year of any car (ie. 98 camaro). it always seems to me that the manufacturers don't have every thing worked out yet.

98 better cam 01-02 LS6 block/intake..

To be completely honest you can't go wrong with either one..

and the 98 model year produced quite a few factory freaks high 12's bone stock! well then again any of the LS1 F-cars are capable of that..

Go with the car that you get a better deal on, or like more... I don't believe there are enough differences between 98-02 to pick a specific year to buy.

Bingo. Unless you MUST have steering wheel radio controls, !EGR, and the LS6 intake (note: moot points for the most of us), then any year LS1 f-car will suit you fine. I only have an '01 because it's the only one I could find at the time.

The only thing that '98 was the first year for was the redesigned front clip. The LS1 motor was out in '97 for the Vette, the trans options and rear were not new, and the recently redesigned interior (camaro) was out in '97.

Granted it was the first year the LS1 was actually in the F-body, but neither the motor or the car were "new" by '98.

mine was $10.700 tax tags and stuf, 74k on it 100% stock
friend has a 02 ws6 $20K+ 35k on it 100% stock

all the apperance mods, go fast mods just about every thing i want to do to my car is about 10k.

mods 10k + car 10k = a car that runs low 11's and can bring home a throphie at a shop
his car 20k+ what ever he does with it = 20k+
