Default LS1 or LS6

I have a 99 SS Camero w/ 9PSI supercharger and a blown piston. What is the best motor to put back in?

Well...

A) An LS2 isn't really an option unless you really want to rip alot of sh*t out of your car (like the harness and PCM) not to mention fabbing up motor mounts and whatnot.

B) An LS6 block is stronger than an LS1 block, but you'd really be better off just saveing your money and throw some forged internals in your current LS1.

OK
so if I take the LS1 out and rebuild it with forged connecting rods and pistons, a Z06 cam and the stock heads. then and the supercharger what kind of HP do you think it will produce?

Forge what you have, then put the Lingenfelter gt2 -3 cam and be done with it. The cam will be around 50 ponies. Bob from EPP can be of big assistance in this deal. EPP can forge the engine for about 5000.00.

Isn't the LS1 block stronger than the LS6 because of the extra material that has been removed to improve cooling in the LS6, Knight?

And you should probably just get a decent set of heads and a good cam for you LS1 and put the blower on, unless you're looking to make huge power, then get a forged LS2 402 ci but that would take more money of course.

I've always heard that the LS1 block is stronger than the LS6, and that reputable engine builders prefer the LS1 block over the LS6 for that reason.
