Default How to fit a TALL person in a Z28??

My buddy of mine is really interested in getting a Z28 and would definately get one now. However he has a bit of a problem, being that he is 6'6" tall and has long legs. He can't quite fit in the car, even with the seat all the way back and the steering wheel tilt all the way up. Does anybody know of any way to get around this? I was thinking that the chair could be moved back about 1-2 inches and bolted down into the frame further back. Does anybody know if this can be done and if it's realistic? If anybody can think of anything else let me know! I sure appreciate it! Thanks!!

i do not know what to tell ya,

but there are 2 guys on a local board,
they are both 6'5 or so and both weigh 275 easy.

these guys should be football players,

one has an lt-1 t/a and the other an lt-1 z28

Move the seat all the way back, and make sure it's a T-top car. They have just a little more headroom than a hardtop. Or, just take the tops off or buy a convertible.

I have the same problem. I'm 6'6" and weigh about 240 lbs. I cut 4 peices of half inch steel approx. 4" long 2" wide clamped then together, and drilled each end. Painted each peice, bolted one end to the existing seat bolts the bolted the seat to the other end. It sits the seat up a little higher but beats having my knees jamed up around the steering wheel. I've thought about using a friends welder to make a peice to sit the seat a little lower but haven't had the time. I'll take a few pics if you want.

Well, I'm 6'4" and 140 lbs and I fit in just fine with the seat about 3/4 of the way back.

It gets kinda annoying when someone parks really close to your driver's side and you have to shift your whole body around while holding the door to get out.

I'm 6'2" and 275 pounds, I have no problem fitting in. My seat is all the way back and I do have T-Tops. My son keeps telling me Dad if you get any bigger you won't fit in the car.

^^^haha. You might try BADBLUE02's idea. I haven't seen it dont in an f-body, but I know that you can have custom seats done for taller/bigger people.

Take the seat out and mount them on universal brackets and then mount the deat further back. Your floor mats will cover up the old holes.

What year is his car? I know several people over 6'5" who can easily fit into an LT1 Z28. I am 6'3", and I have no problem fitting. I don't even have to put the seat all the way back. That is something I have never heard of.

I dont see how a 6'6 person could fit in a camaro comfortable. Im 6'3 and have the seat all the way back to be comfortable. I have very long legs and i feel if i get any taller it might be uncomfortable. I think i read something on the forum somewhere about people moving the seat brackets back.

Im 6"3" and i move the seat about 3/4s back, i guess u could always move the brackets! Look at it this way, thier is way more room in the drivers seat of an f-body than in the driver's seat of a rustang! Drove a friends 04 Cobra, Awesome power, hated the seat and shifting!!

Good God man, eat a freaking sandwhich! I'm the same height, but I couldn't imagine being ~100lbs. lighter. You must be a stick!

Oh, and I fit just fine in the Z28.
