What will it take for a LS1 Camaro to run 200 mph??

guys, 200mph is not like breaking a sound barrier. 500hp, and a lowered car can doit it easily and comfy givin the room. WS6 bird guys may want to swap to a standard hood and T/A guys a spoiler. other then that, you just need the room. hell the nextel cup guys were nearly at 200 at talledega last year and those restricted engines only make a little over 400 and they have the frontal area of a dump truck.

and by the way, to the kids bitchin and moanin bout the speed limit thing, i've heard somewhere that speed limits weren't necessarily just for safety, but more as a way to save gas... on a national level. Not sure if thats entirely true, just thought i'd mention it. So i'll continue to DRIVE like i want. If you want to be safe, go to an old folks home, and stay there.

Hmm, I recall seeing a car at one point on the internets that was modified extensively to try and go on up past 200mph. I'm thinking it might have been a camaro, but the car had a custom made rear diffusor and a lot of other tricks to get the job done. He added the diffuser as the car started walking the highway really bad approaching those speeds.
But hell, that's been over two years since I've seen that car...

I think someone was trying to apply terminal velocity to this situation, but it does not really apply. because you can always apply more force to a car (think of the guys that break the sound barrier in a car). Most sports cars are all made with good aerodynamics, so that is not really the factor. It is keeping it safe and on the ground. terminal velocity is when the applied force is matched by the resisting force (so just apply more force). like everyone is saying it can be done to reach 200+mph (in a fbody) and it has been done. A stock ls1 m6 f-body can reach 166mph. Just get proper suspension, gears, and build the engine to be really strong up top (a lot of room will help too). I would never do something like this, but it is really possible, and it most likely does not cost as much as people think. the new z06 does 200mph the next generation will most likely step that up to 205mph or 210mph (the aerodynamics of this car really has not change that much over generations).

Seriously though, the amount of BS in this thread is rediculous. I'm not even going to bother to check back in on this one...
