What they said. I once thought that SS cars were the ****, and made the fatal mistake of underestimating Z28's. But I am much smarter now, as most will tell you, there is virtually no difference between any of the Fbody's. I prefer the SS tho, solely because of looks

No biggie, now you know. Although it is natural for people to assume its faster but again as someone else said it was a marketing tool to charge more for the SS version, although I think SS's are worth every penny as I had a z28 and they just look plain when compared to an ss.

The SS got slightly bigger anti-roll bars too. The 17" vs. 16" wheels and wider tires are probably the biggest difference performance wise though. I think a stripper Z/28 is actually the fastest because of the weight advantage.

more like 275-290 to the wheels.

Maybe on a mustang dyno but I have yet to see a stock ls1 dyno under 290 rwhp. My 98 z28 with 45K miles on it dynoed 300 rwhp bone stock last summer so I would say the norm on a dyno jet is around 300 rwhp.
