Default Pics of my now completed 67 Firebird with LS1

Here are a few pics of my 67 Firebird with a LS1 conversion. I used a new GM crate motor with a Fast EFI set up and a turbo 400 with a gearvendor overdrive. I used the Carshop 1" set back mounts, hooker headers, and a AutoKraft sheetmetal pan.

Very nice! I bet you get a lot of "What engine is that???" When you raise the hood.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

I am not running any tensioners other than the heim rod. I could not get the alternator in the stock location due to the set back mounts so I made a bracket and moved it up top to the get the wrap on the water pump. I have seen a few guys with the tensioner mounted low in the alternator location and I may give that a try later but the current system seems to work OK. The plug wires are from Blanco99SS here on the board. He is a vendor and makes plug wires to whatever length you give him.

Stu Cool,

You are exactly right--most people are confused when I pop the hood! The guys that are into LS1's know what it is but most others don't.

is the trany mount in the stock location? I have heard the these 1" setback mounts put the engine in the stock location allowing for the use of stock trany, crossmember and drive shaft (with the proper stuff to link old trany with LS).

Thanks guys!

The 1" setback mounts did put the rear of the motor very close to the stock position. I loosened the bolts in the crossmember and pulled the transmission right up the LS1 which was about 1/8"- 3/16" further forward than the small block tha it replaced then the tightened the bolts up.

This car may be for sale soon so if you know anyone looking let me know!

How much was that fast fuelie set up? I've been seeing them in mags and looks like it would work pretty good. How does engine run with that setup?

The FAST EFI system was about $1700. It works well and has amazing throttle response.

It pretty much came with everything required except for the fuel pump and regulator. You can get the system with a pump and regulator also for a little more but I did not need them.

I used the stock one that came on the motor. The crate motor had a GTO pan on it from the factory so I swapped the pan and used the same gasket.
