Default My 67 camar0 LS1/4l60 swap thread

Let me start by saying thanks to 67rsss his build thread has helped me more than he will ever know, and Many of his tricks were used in my build. Build started last october and is almost done, Posts are lifted from another forum I'm on, which is why posts a week later are posted on the same date ect...
So after having a blast on powertour this summer I began planning a "more appropriate" car for next year. I Have old cars, but none that would be good for a week of highway and late night sheninagans.

The 67 camaro has a fresh 327 4bbl but it has a powerglide. Looking at the net I found that 200-4R's are a pretty popular swap. But for a performance trans, crossmember and misc parts it was looking to be $2300 for the swap. I was thinking this would be the best option to gain some "smoke-em" ability and long legs for the highway. But as fate would have it I stumbled across a 50K LS1 4L60E on craigslist that I could drive before I bought. So the project has taken a twist..

Well today got the front brakes done, and some wiring, I also hooked up the power steering return line so that was the last steering part to install

PCM is out having VATS removed, and a few other things (no egr, cat protect/lightoff off, ect) Still need to install passenger side leaf, waiting on a new front mount to arrive. have the new 15x8 rallys for the rear all cleaned up, waiting on tires (255/60/15). once I get the spring mount, the suspension can go in, then the tank/ fuel lines and it should fire up.. fans/radiator should be here within a week

Got the headers/collectors installed today, and re-installed the hood. Spent most of the morning replacing the front wheel speed sensors in the silverado, so ran out of time to do more.

Beautiful car and a wonderful swap! My brother and I did the same swap but with 6 speed in his 68 about 6 or 7 years ago and just last year switched it with the HO 6.0 when the SS LS1 craped out. These engines really wakes up those cars.

I got the column hooked up to the 4l60. The lokar GM coulmn kit is the best 50 bux you can spend to get the shifter hooked up.

I went with a low miles ls1/4l60e in my 65 cutlass https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...ject-pics.html for the exact same reason. I was shopping for a OD trans for My 455 olds and realized I could buy a complete engine combo for not much more doe that would blow the doors off the olds power plant and get 23+ mpg. I'm hooked to the column shifter myself. In my case my factory 2 speed linkage was a direct hookup to the 4l60e. Great looking camaro dig the color.

I used a new factory style tank with intank pump and baffle ( about $450 on ebay) just search "67 camaro injection tank"

I used a c5 FPR and filter assembly mounted on the rt rear frame rail.

I ordered the Cable-x and shiftworks overdrive column lens today, and the custom autosound 630 stereo yesterday. Waiting on free time to put a base tune in it and disable vats and she should be able to pull out of the garage, but its snowing, so no real motivation to do that, so I'll finish wireing it first.

That's the same one I just ordered (only a 69 tank... different than 67-68) from rockauto.com I believe. It was like $451 (and cheap shipping) with a baffled, high flow Delphi pump ready to roll. Seemed like a pretty good value.
