I want a build thread too....'63 Chevy II Wagon.
After 4 fbodys in a row, time for something different...
The door and tailgate were in primer. The car is from AZ, very rust free, the underside looks excellent. I wetsanded an area and the original beige is under the blue...plans are either to go back with the beige or white with a stock fawn interior.
A friend of mine painted the door and tailgate for the time being and I sprayed the wheels dark blue...should have matched but it didnt. Eventually it will get steel wheels in the body color.

The car has 2" drop spindles, disc brakes, and QA1 coil overs in the front. It has a CBR rack and pinion conversion with an Ididit tilt column. Im pretty sure it will get a 4L60e...but Ive also though about a Muncie since Pace Parts makes the LS bellhousing conversion kit.
Out with the old...

I had bought an LS engine lift plate which bolts to the valley of the engine. The chains weren't working out and I had no extra hardware on hand, plus it was late....so I used the carb spacer as a template to drill a second set of holes so that this could be used to pull the 350 as well. It worked excellent..

Success, thanks to the 2 ton engine hoist
The engine is a 2005 5.3 L33, 310hp/335tq. The LS6 intake/tb/rails/inj are on the way as well as stainless works longtubes and engine mount kit. I picked up a harness from a 2002 SS A4....just need a computer, trans, driveshaft, and fuel system setup. I dont plan to have it out this year, but it's coming together

Pic with the new LS6 intake, TB, fuel rails, and 28# injectors which all came as an assembly. The truck waterpump will not work with a car style intake/tb, the water outlet gets in the way. I'll be switching the pump and balancer.
I pulled all the tubing off the harness so that the connectors/wires that won't be used can be traced back to the pcm connectors and removed. Simple stuff.

The project has taken a small detour. I sold the 5.3 two weeks ago and picked up a '00 LS1/4L60E with all the accessories, the wiring harness, and pcm. This pull out has 43k miles on it. I'm very pleased with it...everything is in great shape, real clean, and all the small nuts/bolts and brackets are there. The final cost to do the 5.3 and gather all the pieces would come out real close to what this cost and in the end Id rather have something that came complete.

More wiring anyone? This is the front harness/fuse box setup from a '98 Camaro (v8). Most of this stuff wont be used, but the fuse box/relay setup is what I really want and it was inexpensive for all of it.
Luckily I have access to Alldata to print circuits and find the differences between 98, 00, and 02 wiring.
Box of junk..mostly covering and tape, but I now have a stack of unused wires this deep as well...

Thanks everyone. After the engine is in, all the wiring is figured out and routed where it needs to go, and the vehicle is driven to get any bugs worked out....it will all come apart for restoration.
The outside will be white or beige and the interior will be stock fawn. From the outside it will appear stock. I want the engine bay to appear stock aside from the engine being in there. I have all the trim for the car and the parts that need it will get sent out for restoration as well.

This past Sunday, the girlfriend and I set the engine in as a test. It went fairly easy, no big surprises.
When I look at this pic...I think of that scene in 'Christiene' at the football game...the camera pans to the front of the Fury and it has a sinister look...like it's smiling just a little bit....
The creeper worked like a charm...the trans slid right under and into place. The chain is my temporary crossmember (yeah its tacky but it works to hold it there for now) so the car can be moved and put up on jackstands. Then I can modify the th350 crossmember and put that in.
When the frame mounts get figured out, I'll lift the engine up and slide the headers in.
Now it's getting interesting and the extra garage space is nice too.
